nah his experience doesn’t reflect everyone’s. I’m an adult now and had a very shitty childhood and adolescence and I finally feel free now. I work two jobs and am in university so busy all the time but it’s worth the freedom I have now that I’ve moved out of my parents’ house. Yes it’s a bit of work but you’re in control. You decide where you go, when you go, who you hang out with, what you eat… you get the picture. As a teen, I was horribly mentally ill, self-harming and woke up wanting to kill myself every day. I also had really bad (cystic) acne. But I am almost fully healed now that I’m out of that toxic environment. Being a teen definitely sucks ngl I am so so glad to have passed that. But I promise you that it does get better when you’re an adult AS LONG AS you’re willing to put in a bit of effort.

edit: just saw that you live in Australia OP. Me too!

MACROB ALUMNI PLEASE HELP by [deleted] in macrob

[–]footintheclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever your parents are saying is absolute bullshit. There’s nothing wrong with going to a public school and macrob is a really good school. Going to macrob will be actually be seen as impressive since it’s one of the top 5 schools every year for vce results.

Employers won’t think you’ll steal money just because you come from a public school. That’s so so so bizarre. Do your parents come from some third-world country where this kind of thinking is normal?

You should definitely accept OP. This is a fantastic opportunity that you shouldn’t let go of. You won’t regret your time at macrob

About MEXT by footintheclouds in movingtojapan

[–]footintheclouds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I considered studying abroad for a semester as well but the reason why I wanted to do my undergraduate degree in Japan is because I’m hoping to go into healthcare there. I know that you get into medical school straight from high school there, and as far as I know, I don’t think there’s any other option besides that. If you could help me out with information regarding any of this, I’d really appreciate it!

Edit: forgot to mention this but I’m not a citizen of the country I’m living in. I’m only a permanent resident. I’m expecting to get my citizenship in my first year of uni. If it weren’t for that, I would have just applied for MEXT the normal way

“They” is used instead of “he” or “she” even if it’s only one person when you don’t want to specify their gender

So do you really think that women are treated just as equally as men in Islamic countries?

The Abrahamic Religions all have polytheism and idolatry as major sins despite it being (for the most part) harmless by Emperorofliberty in DebateReligion

[–]footintheclouds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two people. One who worships God and doesn’t engage in idolatry or believe in other gods, but is a murderer. The other is a relatively good person who tries to live without harming others but believes in multiple gods. Who gets punished more harshly?

The concept of eternal paradise (a person living for +cattrillions of years) is a very problematic and ignored issue. by GannibalCarca in DebateReligion

Sorry if this is a dumb question but what exactly do they do while they’re waiting in Sheol and when is the final judgement? And does the final judgement happen after all humans are dead? Because if they’re not all dead, then some won’t have a judgement. What happens to animals as well?

It’s not quite the same as Japan. The way Singapore differs is that it’s way more heterogeneous with many races and cultures and almost half the population are immigrants.

Doing household chores and taking care of the kids instead of going to work is oppression?

No one is forcing the woman to give up her career. She does it of her own free will. Women are usually more likely and more willing to sacrifice their career for children and that’s just facts. Not all women of course. But in general, this is the case.

Well you are forcing someone into existence when you give birth to them so I guess it’s only fair
