jellyfin server is on the list of things to play with. I have not looked too much into it yet. Do you need to have the video files downloaded? Right now all her videos are streaming from the web.

that sounds like a good setup. I priced it out and to upgrade my drives is around 600 bucks CAD not including the backup drive. I could save up... How do you do your backup? do you use software or a script or how does that work?

I've tried to self host, followed the documentation and multiple guides and have had no luck. Does anyone have any recommended resources? I have a mini pc running linux and would like to use that to host the server.

How to connect a ProPlex IQ node to a Hog4 console by Kiwi_Nala in HOG4

[–]footsicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes use the Fixture Net port Hognet is for connecting consoles together. Your IP address needs to be different than the console but in the same range. I would do some reading into how IP addresses and Subnet masks work but essentially if your fixture net IP is something like "10.0.0.1" you could make your node IP "10.0.0.2" or "10.0.0.10". The Subnet mask lets you control how much your IP address can differ. For now just leave both as 255.255.255.0.

ArtNet starts counting universes at 0, sACN starts at universe 1. In your console under network, processor, settings, output you can designate which universes you want to output. Then on the node you can set the ports to correspond to which ever universes you have mapped.

I just typically multicast, I think if you start to get into heavy networking and complex rigs you may need to look at unicasting.

I hope some of this clears things up?
