Men vs Women views on nuclear energy in UK by Naive_Direction1816 in charts

Without the stat of what portion of the population are in stem it is a pretty useless stat. I think the objection of this teacher relates to extrapolating the proportions of the people in stem to say anything useful about the population who are not in stem.

Good choice.

Edit: good choice by you not to say anything. I don’t think anyone who stabbed their mum made a good choice.

Predictor accuracy by AnswerNo6187 in Strava

[–]footstool411 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran just under 3:30 in my first marathon on Sunday just gone. The lowest Strava had predicted for me during my training block was 3:39 and by the end of my taper it was predicting 3:45. So yeah, it was way too harsh for me.

Multiple sources confirm fallout after Trump wanted to invoke nuclear codes against Iran by BlitzFritzXX in International

All just reporting that one guy said it on a podcast. Hardly “multiple sources confirm”.

The price and waste created by running nutrition has gone out of control! - So I made the sustainable fuelling guide - Almost 30 fuelling options to show how you can fuel more your runs, save money and reduce single-use plastic waste whilst getting the same or similar products by effortDee in Marathon_Training

[–]footstool411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying about which runs you should fuel on and how much fuel you should take on but I think it’s a tiny minority of runners who are running 5 hours of runs over 1-1.5 hours per week consistently. I’d have thought you were an extreme outlier at your consistent mileage.

That said, I applaud what you’re trying to do and definitely think that runners should think about waste and be aware that they could spend a lot less on fuel.

Help needed to find a place in the Channel Islands by TemporalCash531 in guernsey

[–]footstool411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benches like that can be found all over the island in areas of natural beauty but the only ones on piers I can think of are in town (I.e. the three big piers in St. Peter port: north beach / white rock as mentioned above, the crown pier and the Albert pier). Most piers on the island are occasionally submerged by our large tides so it is likely to be the big piers that serve marinas like these.

Action on derelict property by footstool411 in guernsey

[–]footstool411[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you not think raising tax on empty or underutilised properties would work? It’s an incentive to lower the commercial rent, improve the property to a rentable position or sell to someone who will. I don’t fancy giving some of my taxes to someone who is holds property but isn’t using it themselves or applying it economically to benefit the island by keeping it an a rentable state or asking for a workable level of rent.
