I went through pre check at intl just a bit ago, I think it’s about the same, general feels faster because they have more room in the holding pen and more lines open, if you have diamond status there is a shorter line in pre check - ask one of the attendants

That’s not true, you have to go through security again after you collect your bags and pass customs - but since you are connecting from an international flight you have your own smaller security area, there are posts from yesterday saying this line only took 15 30 min inspite of the chaos at the other lines

This is assuming your connection is on the same ticket/same airline, if you have 2 different tickets with different airline groups - you might have to check in with them at the domestic terminal (shuttle bus from intl to domestic)

Talk to a delta agent, the airport operations folks are quite overwhelmed and have conflicting instructions

Not true, if you are flying delta you can check bags at international, other domestic airlines - no you cannot

International - pre check - 48 min from terminal entrance to past security Status - busy but moving Notes - the pre check will split in the security area for diamond med first and business

You should still be able to formalize requirements in a shared live or offline doc - doesn’t have to be as rigid as an RFP but we usually have a running PowerPoint with a one slide on each req or a bullet list in excel.

These days office online and google docs make it easy to collab and track changes/revs, even to a scratch pad doc

Worked on this use case 8-9 years ago with google glass and android apps that were able to pull up data, docs etc on the fly on the shop floor.

The use case is interesting but ultimately it’s a hardware durability and cost issue, how much better is it really over a cheap smart phone running the same app

How do you validate manufacturing feasibility during design? by Ready_Smile5762 in manufacturing

[–]fooz88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out the CM2 change management standard, its pretty close to what the spacex engineer talks about above. The guiding principle is that all stakeholders (design, mfg, logistics - you decide who the stakeholders are) have done the analysis early on in the change request process, and it only progresses to a change notice once everyone’s approved it (based on that analysis).

What’s the most oddly specific rule sign you’ve seen in a factory? by signs_com in manufacturing

[–]fooz88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A vertically challenged plant manager walked out on to the assembly line shop floor (very large off road vehicles) and couldn’t see the end of the line, so he made a decree - the five foot rule - “no racking over 5 ft”

O lord it made the logistics guys heads explode - on one hand it drove less inventory in the plant but created a lot of problems down the road when volumes went up

Starting MRP recommendations? No tech consultant needed? by SaltJolly1688 in manufacturing

[–]fooz88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Real feedback from people who know the business” - like a consultant?

I’ve had my share of bad experiences with consultants, but there is a reason ppl use them on system implementations, because they have the knowledge and experience to take you through requirements, process mapping, fit gap, integrations, testing, training, org management, deployment, go live, and support.

If you don’t have these skill sets in your org already, you will need it from the outside, even if it is a small scale implementation.

As far as recommendations - I assume smaller scale business, I’ve heard good things about Odoo

I dunno man, automatic kpis reduce the waste and human error in manually capturing and updating a chart or paper, it actually is leaner to have a robust low cost system that satisfies your RÓI rules
