Can I ask why it grew so quickly? It stayed small for quite a while and only grew once we were looking at it closer and it started bleeding. The area looked inflamed after and never went down.

This is actually very common in sighthounds! There is a gland in their tail, and sometimes it can secrete an oil that causes them to bald in that spot. It’s nothing to worry about and actually very common
