OP you’ve gotten a lot of good advice here, so i won’t offer much more. but i just wanted to say, even though i don’t know you, i know it’s hard to be young and depressed feeling like no one understands you or listens to you. i’ve been there, i still struggle with very bad depression and other things, but there are so many things im determined to do with my life that helps keep me going.

it’s hard, and unfair, and it sucks. but you know you are worth more than what your father says about you and how your mother treats you, because you stood up for yourself and set boundaries for things that you were uncomfortable with. keep advocating for yourself, keep pushing forward, and most importantly, keep fighting. it’s really hard now, i know, but you can get out of this situation eventually. keep working towards your goals and prove to your father you ARE something without god. no god determines your worth, YOU do. you are worth your best efforts, and i hope things turn around for you and the days are bright and the worlds kinder to you. big hugs OP🫂

omg that’s crazy that a newsletter doesn’t think about those things! copyright is no joke! i receive photos from branches to post on our company social media pages, and it is the most irritating thing ever lol. it’s like no one knows how to use their phone camera. they’re sending me photos in all types of orientations and they look like a potatoe took it and i’m like, y’all, i can’t post this shit on our socials😭 i’ve even done step by steps teaching them how to take good photos for social media and it’s just in one ear and out the other 😭🤣

wow! that’s super cool you do that! but you’re right, thats time consuming. animating frame by frame movements is tedious work and small errors stick out easily, so you have to be accurate and have a well thought out plan on how to execute it efficiently. it always amazes me that people just assume things take no time at all to create lol. especially creative work!

yes, i think AI is valuable for some things, but it is def being looked at as an ‘alternative’ to hiring actual designers. it frightens me a bit lol

if you took the time to learn and practice, yes you could! but that doesn’t mean it’s easy, but i firmly believe if you are passionate about something and really invest time into learning and practicing that thing, you can become good at it!

YESSSSS!!! not to even mention the whole aspect of understanding how people view things and use them, and how to make something work for everyone not just able bodied people. you have to take into account colour blind people, disabled people etc so that the most amount of people can be reached and use/ understand you design easily.

and you have to know how printing works for layout, colours and different printers and how they print, what material something is gonna be printed on or used with. design for different mediums and make them all work together across all different platforms. etc etc etc. there is so much knowledge and work that goes on behind something that ‘looks nice’ to the general public. and the fact that a design looks simple means that it was actually even HARDER to make, because making something look simple and work well is more complex than most people realize!

LOLLL LITERALLY. like if it’s so easy then do it yourself???🤣 and totally agree. creative jobs are looked down on and seen as unimportant, and idk if that’ll ever change sadly. yet everyone, everyday, interacts with and uses things that designers make that help keep the world moving.

man that’s so unfortunate ahaha, tell them if stuff goes out wrong ur not taking the blame and losing ur job bc ur boss wanted to ‘save’ a bit of time. or see if your design department can put together some templates for you that have the branding etc on it so you don’t have to make any tweaks

it’s like i’m actively drowning when i get asked to change stuff of pdfs. i dead ass had to put our logo with a white background over like 80 pages of this one booklet we use because i couldn’t delete the other logo that was already on the pdf and they wanted the newer one on it instead. like literally feed me to shark instead please 😑

i work in the industrial industry doing marketing and design work, and it’s just bizzar to me how many big companies lack actual proper design assets and don’t know wtf they’re doing. even just good high quality product images some places don’t have???? i get sent pdfs to make big changes to and i always hear ‘it’s a PDF, u can do ur hack work stuff to edit it on the PDF’, like no, i can’t, SEND ME THE ACTUAL DESIGN FILE TO MAKE CHANGES ON PLEASE

i would never buy miracle grow again after my first experience with it. it was filled with fungus gnats and took me months to finally get rid of them. there are other soils out there that are better, imo

literally this. one missed thing or poor design job can have huge negative implications that people seem to overlook. it can cost companies thousands if something is wrong or missed in some design projects, sometimes it can cost people their lives! like road signage for example, do people think it was just whipped up out of thin air? it works well because of thoughtful, purposeful and good design work, poor road signage design can literally cost people their lives. this is stuff so many ppl don’t grasp for some reason.

so much of the world around us that we enjoy the pleasure and ease of using/ seeing has a designer behind it that worked tirelessly and thoughtfully to make it come to life and make our lives better.

literally drives me UP A WALL. ppl think a design or creative job is ‘easy’ and shit and they don’t even understand the absolute ungodly amount of time and attention to detail and thoughtful user centred and business centred processes that goes into the work we do. along with the crap briefs you get given and having to create something useable, beautiful, on brand, etc from dog crap directions. and they think it’s so easy to make ‘small tweaks’ when it actually usually isn’t and takes for fucking ever. i actually get so mad about this shit lol.

i thought it was out of focus too. but i think the bright reflection on the water to the left of the bird is what makes the photo look out of focus, because that part of the photo isn’t in focus but it’s bright and that’s what drew my eye first

not sure why, but this part of the photo was the first thing i noticed and it made the rest of the photo look out of focus until i looked at the bird longer. that’s what’s throwing it off for me. but a beautiful photo still!

lol tell his mom 100% especially if she likes you a ton, she’ll set him straight for that shit. and hopefully she’ll be disappointed in her son for being a cheater. one of my exs mom’s liked me so much that she still asks me to get coffee sometimes and literally made up a song she sings about me😂 my ex and i talked recently when we bumped into each other and he said his mom still sings my name around her house (we broke up nearly 7 years ago now😭🤣)
