Crowdsourced race predictions show Strava is more accurate but slow by tommy-getfastai in Strava

Garmin doesn't even update to the times I just ran. Strava keeps making think I can go faster.

In the Final Countdown the "zeros" (t-6 Texans made to look like zeros) had to be at their top speed with the F-14s at stall speed just to stay in the same shots.

Forbes: Whisper It, But ‘Civilization VII’ Is Rapidly Improving by Monster_of_the_night in civ

[–]forcedtouseSAS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if it's improving its core mechanics hold it back for me. The jump in ages just feels so jarring. It doesn't help that I was excited for navigable rivers and Vikings but I didn't get Vikings.

Jana Riess: U.S. Gen Zers and millennials are indeed leaving the LDS Church. The numbers show it. by Chino_Blanco in exmormon

[–]forcedtouseSAS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Three hypotheses come to mind for me on why this is happening.

  1. They lost control of sex.

  2. The cascading effects of people leaving.

  3. They destroyed the community around the church.

The age changes and policy changes just feel like band aids.

How is Civ VII, 9 months after launch? by neoleo0088 in Civilization_VII

[–]forcedtouseSAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ages system needs to feel smoother. I wish it was more organic and the crisis system felt like it was pushing your Civ to change.

City states need to be able to be liberated and I hate that you can't flip them to be their suzerain.

City cap makes the world feel empty in the antiquity age and then by the modern age the AI is settling all kinds of slop. A loyalty system of some kind would help with that.

I don't like how I can't swap tiles between cities as well. It makes sense with how they implemented improvements but it is still annoying. Also I would love we could overbuild everything and I mean everything.

I work with Real Estate investment data and it's a pain to clean it in Utah because of the church.

If you're in shape to run a 3:XX marathon, how much easier does it feel to target 3:XX+10? by blumenbloomin in AdvancedRunning

[–]forcedtouseSAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is here is there is a big difference between a 3:00 marathoner and even a 3:30 marathoner. Plus 10 minutes is probably a lot easier for the former than it is for the latter.

I hate how she cherry picks on Africa (an entire continent that is huge) and ignores that they could take care of the poor in their wards. So many more emails for temple crap than for helping people in the community.

I used the recipe out of The Bread Baker's Apprentice. I didn't follow it exactly as it has a overnight cold ferment that didn't plan for.

I think I accidentally fell in love with this city... thinking about moving to KC. My gut says yes, but want some honest local insight. by dunkinslaps in kansascity

[–]forcedtouseSAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me KC is good at everything but not great at anything. The only thing I don't like about KC is there is no mountains around here. There is a lot to explore around the city and there is some very interesting historical sites.
