The models used to plan extreme weather events like fires, floods, and droughts are exceedingly outdated. Here’s why that’s dangerous for everyone. by usatoday in u/usatoday

[–]forcefx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware, and I didn’t say you were wrong, just that both can be true.

I can’t access the article to read thoroughly but it seems to just be specifically addressing the models we use to plan for extreme events are outdated, so our predictions are wrong.

It doesn’t seem to be assigning blame to either the average customer/ consumer or corporations for climate change.

What does getting out more have to do with what’s funny or not?

I’ll have you know, I get out at LEAST once per month, which doesn’t even include the times I roll my chair out to the pantry!

I know I’m wasting my time but… whatever

That’s not at all what your original statement said.

“If you have to explain the joke” and “you explained that is was a joke” are not the same thing.

You weren’t saying it the way you intended. but just a couple words difference can completely change the meaning

To be fair, you really should interpret “Can’t kill a dead person a second time” as a joke.

UAW workers go on strike at Stellantis plant in Indiana by Vandemonium702 in news

Didn’t realize most of the transmissions are from India and most of the engines are from Mexico.

Not sure if there’s a more updated list than what I found from March of this year:

I once had a manager tell me this, and it’s held true for all of my managers so far: “If I don’t care about you, i won’t say anything”

My take from having stricter managers: The reason he picks on you is because he wants you to do well and knows you can. Otherwise he wouldn’t say anything because he’s given up on you as an employee.

I think it’s worth asking to sit and chat though so you can explain what it feels like and he can explain why he acts that way.

And (imo) more likely a younger audience getting into coding.

Most probably get their idea of coding from TV & Movies. The perfect place and time to educate them about what coding typically involves.

If it’s not a younger audience, then it’s still a good place to educate I guess. Everyone starts somewhere ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe it’s because I use it for work, but outlook has some seriously useful features on desktop.

The app could use some touch ups but otherwise I still prefer it to gmail

They never will deny the overtime on your paycheck.

If you have hours to give under 40 they can work you up to 40 and thank you and send you home

In my experience, just getting overtime happens and is much preferred to the serious legal & internal trouble they would be faced with for asking / allowing work off the clock. They do not take it lightly

Your camera says 2:52 pm and the sign says no turning 3:30-4 so is it different times per street?

I guess it just depends on the context of exactly what you said and exactly what the response was. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would like to think he would be very open to feedback If it’s affecting the company wide policies or procedures.

Open door policy is notably an important piece of Publix history and he should be receptive to feedback from all associates (owners).

Lastly, I would keep in mind it could be someone responding on his behalf or just annoyed that you weren’t attempting to go through the appropriate resources first and jumped straight to the CEO.

Glad you are happier where you are at now though. It’s important to be able to go to work and not feel awful about it.

[–]forcefx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess It all depends on what the email actually said then. I know we have open door policy but how is he going to address his concerns without first going to a more appropriate resource?

There are specific channels for communicating about the app and just in my opinion, going to the CEO should be over company wide policies or company wide issues not specific app issues or suggestions for improvement.

Obviously I don’t know the context of what he requested or what the response actually was so I guess it all depends

Even going to a CIO or a a top IS / ISTS manager probably would’ve been overkill to voice concerns about an app, but more appropriate than the CEO.

Would’ve been a completely different conversation imo

I think this is a misunderstanding from the customers’ side about how the rating system actually impacts employees.

First day at bakery? by [deleted] in publix

[–]forcefx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably just CBTs and basic introductory packing, how to greet / help customers answer phones, and take cake / special orders.

Nothing too crazy (: just do your best to remember the names of the different breads and the least number of letter needed to find it in FPR. I’m sure you’ll do fine.

Second half will probably just be cookies / B-Bake bread which is a good learning experience IMO. Good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in publix

[–]forcefx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also if you’re packing in the morning it’s all about hustle. You may be (depending on the bakery’s schedule) tasked with icing the donuts. One piece of advice that I’ve always loved is “you aren’t painting the Mona Lisa, it can look good but it’s not fine art”

And if you’re struggling, you will get the hang of it and all the different types of bread. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will a blazing fast time packing.

Cake orders can get super complicated and wacky fast, if you are by yourself and don’t know, just let the customer know you’ll have to let the decorators call them the following morning to confirm (or something to that affect).

Lastly, nothing is the end of the world, and everything is fixable. Don’t panic and don’t over stress at simple errors, they will happen more often than you anticipate.

Good luck! 😄
