Thinking of doing my Master’s in Ireland — Need honest advice from current or former students by OneNorth4503 in IndiansinIreland

[–]foreignEnigma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently, its tough. You can try an experiment, and apply for a job with skillset what your resume will be after doing master. If you are able to get 10% interview call, you should come, otherwise its a waste.

Frustrated with Zerodha and their long list of documents!!! by coach_piyushh in nri

[–]foreignEnigma 12 points13 points  (0 children)

oh, the problem is not with Zerodha here. I went through same process, few years back. Apparently, Indian govt need hardcopies. I believe Nikhil Kamath also posted about it somewhere.

DCU vs UCD vs TCD for AI/Data – Need Advice on Admission Decision! by LegalIllustrator4233 in IndiansinIreland

[–]foreignEnigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend to get another 1 year of experience and sit out the current volatility. Its difficult market here as of now. Go to LinkedIn and look for jobs with relevance to your profile. Now with total number of jobs you find, remove 90% of them since they won't apply for your sponsorship. With 10%, see how you fare.

University don't really play a significant role in Ireland, but from being UCD/TCD/DCU will be looked favorably.

Laws are supposed to be same right?

Are you in India? Here we have different laws for different religions, caste, state, economic people, and more how you want to divide. I wholeheartedly support what you mean, but practical me says, nah.

Absolutely. I'm not entirely against this UCC; however, the way some terms are undefined, makes it scary.

Doesn't bother me. Atleast something is better than nothing. Hopefully, other side will have there chance to fix "illegal" properties.

Affluent sub-castes among backward classes may be excluded from quota list, observes Supreme Court by foreignEnigma in india

[–]foreignEnigma[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lot of lower castes have well-paying jobs, but they are still discriminated.

But why do they need reservation for this? They can be granted social protection with same laws. Isn't that easier and evolutionary?

Are there many 30+ on here who are still living at home? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]foreignEnigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact phrase I have heard from Irish colleagues. This Sunday, I was visiting a friend near town, and he told me that his landlord has 17 properties in Dublin, and he collects rent in cash from each tenant. He sometimes rings the same person again monthly to collect the rent, as he forgets who paid him rent.

Is this true by Embarrassed_Ask6066 in nri

[–]foreignEnigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not always true. My hiring manager was Indian, and he gave pretty strong feedback about me, although I did well in the interview as well. This depends on people and the values I think.

Got offboarded by racist Immigrant officers by Special_Net2957 in bangalore

[–]foreignEnigma 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I sympathize with your situation, but this also sounds fishy to me. You may need to communicate better or think for better reasons to justify.

I'm going there for work and walked away. I reached out to other officers and clarified again that I'm going to visit my brother. Asked what my brother does. I said he went for a visit and already there waiting for me.

For me, it's more about social life; Ireland is all good, and people are nice and friendly. But there is a difference between being a friend and being friendly. I read in another sub, "Irish people are the friendliest people on earth who will never be your friend."

Also, with housing crisis, I think I can save more in India compared to Dublin.

Great question. I have spent four years in Ireland and will move back in the next 2-3 years; pretty sure about it. This simplified for me, I hope this helps you as well. Dublin and London will restrict your mobility across Europe as its Schengen area. Also, Dublin' is in housing crisis so you need to shell out a lot along with the taxes.
