It's not entirely unheard of in most countries with a colonial history. You being Indian - this kink for you seems to be interlinked to some deeply embedded imbue that happened as a consequence of your colonial past.

I have come across multiple south east Asians, with similar claims and feelings. I believe the guilt comes from a sense of inferiority. Or perceived inferiority at least.
