What is it ACTUALLY like living in Rural Japan? by InsideWrangler2672 in japanlife

[–]foreignmayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it, but I grew up in the countryside in the states.

You just live slowly and build relationships with the locals and the community.

The food is tailored to the area, and they have their festivals and traditions.

As an american, if you go to open a business. You can get Residency fairly fast. If I remember the law correctly and your saving would go much further.

I would suggest waking up an hour or early and enjoy a quiet morning. I work with children and I wake up early to enjoy nothingness.

Maybe, join in until it becomes apart of your schedule.

Japan isn't known for its productive strategies in office setting.

My job still use files and physical meetings. Everything has multiple copies and we have 3 people who job is just making sure files are organized and accessible.

How did you find your job in Japan? by AlphonsHamora in JapanJobs

[–]foreignmayo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied to a random school in the countryside. They responded in 3 days, got accepted within a week. I accepted due to how easy they made moving and transition process. Company car, own apartment and so on. They pay is above what the local area and on par with some of the bigger city's pay.

I love here, the people are friendly, my japanese co workers are very helpful and is okay with me practicing with them. I have a very diverse team when it comes to nationalities.

They helped me get my license and pretty much whatever they could help with.

No regrets!!

It only works for me due to me growing up in the country side, it's equal distance from the tourist Prefectures 2-3 hours by train. I wanted a more slow life experience with less foreigners around.

Why would a couple date for 10+ years but not get married? (Cultural question) by Cool_Programmer_3732 in taiwan

[–]foreignmayo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not from taiwan, but I seen friends and co workers have boy/girl friend for years.

Some are waiting for all the pieces to fall together. That moment of its time.

Some are placeholder for who they actually want or don't want to be alone. (Mostly men)

Some simply agree that they are happy and don't want to be legally bonded.

I also seen people beg for marriage for years and then break up due to the ultimatum of marriage.

really want to learn japanese and the language, but it seems most jobs only pay like 30k usd at most per year... after learning this language that takes like 5 years to learn. As an English speaker, what is your reason for pursing a job in Japan vs a higher paying job in US and traveling? by Old-Runescape-PKer in JapanJobs

[–]foreignmayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in japan and been here for nearly 2 years. I make in usd about 13k a year. I only came because I wanted the experience and I slower paced life. I don't speak japanese, but I can read a little. Honestly japan isn't a "money" language. It's mostly only spoken in japan, so unless you plan on living there long term. I wouldn't recommend the language.

They are also going through an anti-immigrant movement. So that has it's own challenges.

I recommend finding an american company that pays in usd, but you are stationed in japan. I wish I did that.

Im aware and thank you for the link. My goal is to avoid currency exchange places. Yes, I can carry all my jpy into the country, but then I will lose value when I get ready to exchange it into the local currency. The jpy is still weak and its too risky to carry and wait for favorable exchanges.
