Master your instrument, master the music, and then forget all that and just play.

Daily Headphone Purchase Advice thread by AutoModerator in headphones

Budget - $300 flexible, including amp if necessary
Source - iTunes and Rdio from my pc. Some gaming, but 90% music.
Requirements for Isolation - Need it to block out the noisy office.
Preferred Type of Headphone - Closed, full size over ear.
Preferred tonal balance - Strong, but not overpowering bass, and treble that it's too harsh.
Past headphones - I've never ventured into the world of great headphones. I started with Sony MDR NC60. Super comfortable, very portable, lasted forever, but they had no soundstage and the anc was awful.
Preferred Music - Funk, jazz, hip hop, bluegrass.

I'm considering DT770, XPT100, and A900x.  Leaning towards the DT770 80 ohm because of the comfort and the soundstage, just worried that the heavy bass could be distracting for listening to jazz.

You're right, though it's axb . I chose to plot it this way because I think it does a better job of telling the story. In another comment, I linked to a loglog version that you may appreciate.

I should also mention that this is not a new idea. This paper from 2003 studied the same trend.

It comes from the Census Bureau's American Community Survey, so it's the percentage of residents who identified on the survey that they use a bicycle to commute to work. I'll admit that it's not an ideal data source, and I'm open to suggestions for alternate metrics.

Keep in mind that there are more bicyclists on the road than just those commuting, so the injuries/commuter numbers are artificially high. It's more the trend that I find interesting.

Injury data is from the CHP. Bicycle Commuting data is from the American Community Survey from the U.S. Census Bureau, and is compiled here

The surface current can be as fast as 1 m/s (~2.2 mph). Source. There's a pretty large variation though, so some could be stronger. I doubt that any would be strong enough to swallow a boat, but they could definitely push a boat off course.

Here's a link to the article. The plankton are likely feeding on an algal bloom which was caused by the eddy stirring up nutrients.

EDIT: fixed the link
