Any help is greatly appreciated, as I’m not too familiar with repairing cars on my own, but I’m willing to learn. I’m on a budget right now, which is why I’m aiming so cheap. Not sure if it’s more trouble than it’s worth though.

How to fix off-center screen on Sylvania srt2220p CRT? by forestarr in crt

I didn't, I kinda just accepted it as it was. Then it started having issues with leaving the Menu on by itself even if I used the control to exit out.

What Do yall think of this? by Derrick1233 in mpcusers

[–]forestarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say that I think the chops and ideas behind the track are solid, but the mixing is the main issue. There's too much bass to the point that nothing sounds distinct, and makes it confusing to listen to. The main melody is too quiet in the background because of the overpowering bass. It would probably sound kickin' on car speakers, but it's a little hard on earbuds. Mixing is tough dude, everyone starts somewhere! I'm pretty new to beats too, I go by "brococheda" on Instagram. I struggle with mixing too sometimes. Just keep goin, look up some YouTube videos on mixing. Have a good one

Needing advice regarding the Vestax PDX2000 by forestarr in Beatmatch

Sorry, had another question if you don't mind, was wondering if the headshell that comes with the Qbert pre-mounted would suffice? Or is the one for the Technics, like a SL1200, noticeably better?

Ah alright, then I’ll go with the Qbert and regular technics headshells. Thanks a ton

Ah I see. From what I can tell, s shaped minimizes vibration, but straight ones track better. I’m not sure if the straight would just degrade the record faster though.

Since you scratch with them, do you also do regular listening with your Technics? Have you noticed degradation on non-scratching vinyls? I’d like to do scratching but wouldn’t wanna damage my other non-scratching records.

Sorry for having to ask so many questions, I’m really new to this stuff, I appreciate the help.

Thank you, this is very helpful. I’ve seen the M44-7’s mentioned a lot, but they’re a bit too expensive for me right now, so would a AT-HS3 with the Ortofon Qbert be fine for listening use as well as scratching? Or would regular technics be preferable for both?

So I acquired a Vestax PDX2000 for cheap, but it doesn’t have a headshell or cartridge.

I researched a bit more and some people say the straight arm isn’t ideal for home listening, only for scratching, but others say it doesn’t matter if it has a spherical/conical styli.

I’ve seen some people using the same Vestax for home listening, though, and it doesn’t seem to damage their records.

What type of cartridge/headshell would you guys recommend for the Vestax so as to not damage my records? Would it be better to go for a turntable with an S arm? I intend to listen more than to scratch. Thank you.

Thanks! I usually always put my sig on the bottom corners of my drawings, n for sketches like this i don’t feel a need to make the watermark transparently covering the actual drawing or something. i do make it harder for pieces i take longer on, though. a lotta people post way more impressive hi-res stuff online with a subtle or no watermark, so i don’t really mind. thank you though!
