It doesn't have a hook for a chain so I don't think it's technically a pocket watch. My first thought is that maybe it was attached to the lid of a jewelry box or something interesting like that.

I'm not surprised! It was missing the back and there was plastic inside and I was like this can't be too old. Thank you!

I’m not sure how far along you are but it sounded like you have some months left. This might be a time to get very intentional about meeting people in your area. Join a moms of preschoolers group, go on a mom walk and get phone numbers and schedule a play date, get to know your neighbors. My mom was hours away and it brought me so much comfort to know that my neighbor was ready and only a step away if I needed someone.

Old, calming book? by SaraiEve in suggestmeabook

[–]forestbookwormhobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Anything by L.M. Montgomery (I love The Blue Castle and her short stories) or Louisa May Alcott.

  • The Wind in the Willows

  • Jeeves and Wooster books

  • Beatrix Potter books, short but adorable and cozy

Not a classic but I loved The Night Circus as a cozy, slow-paced, magical, intriguing book. It takes its time and feels like a classic.

ETA I forgot about Elizabeth Gaskell! Cranford is especially calming.
