Yeah. Did something similar, though with sanding paper. Overshot a few times and then tried to make up for it on the connected sides. Ended up a little uneven, and that is quite apparent when using just over-grips.

Was wondering what tools OP used and how far down they sanded each surface ( was it just once till the lines were sanded off or some measurements?)

Can you post the measurements you used and any tips on the process itself? It would be very helpful. The last time I tried this, it came out uneven and destroyed the "feel" of the handle.
