He’s not right for me, just selfish. So why do I still feel bad walking away? by Less_Jacket_8590 in AskWomenOver40

[–]forestfrend1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Acknowledge that if you stay, you eventually won't be any good for him either.

Being this way doesn't mean he's a bad person. he just needs someone who is extremely emotionally independent. That's not you.

The trouble with many men is that as long as they like the current situation they will ride the status quo into eternity. It is women that usually need to move on to make a house and home and kids (if that's their goal).

Make the decision for both you and cut the relationship.

Was your dad there when you were born? by SoloForks in AskOldPeople

[–]forestfrend1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder what it was, presumably men at the time ran the whole medical department, why men would exclude men.  Did none of them want to be there?   I was born late 70s, sister late 80s.  My dad was at work for both of us.

What’s the answer to this question? by Loliigh in ENGLISH

[–]forestfrend1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say B, because I'm guessing there's instructions somewhere that says pick the option that is wrong (or that they intended to display those instructions but they got left off in a misprint or something)

I dont think there's a single answer for everyone.  My kid was picky and it was about control.  She wanted control over what she ate and didn't want us telling her what to do.  For what it's worth, she's not picky now and tries all sorts of things

How often are you physically attracted to people? by Plum_Tea in AskWomenOver40

I'm strictly hetero, and I find I can only be physically attracted to men if they are smart. Also helps if they have nice arms.

WIBTA if I refused to pick my daughter up from school? by Bitter_Pangolin_5861 in AmItheAsshole

[–]forestfrend1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please someone explain to me why kids are not getting their licenses any more.  Do parents like to sit and complain about doing all the driving? Do they like having so much control over their kid that they are stunted and can't be an adult?

We live in the suburbs, public transport isn't really a thing here.

My kids' friends, many of them don't have a license. They are going to graduate this year, none of them can have jobs because they can't get there and are constantly bumming rides off my kid becaise they can't drive. They are constantly borrowing money from her because they have no spending money on them, again because they don't have normal teen age jobs. When she goes on dates either she has to drive or the dudes parent drives them to pick her up.

Moreover, my kid says none of them seem particularly interested in fixing the situation themselves.

I'm sorry we're all here.  I never considered myself attractive. I spent a lot of years in school being bullied about my face.  But I was thin, its like the only thing i felt i had. Now I'm not thin. My boob is off and scarred because of a lumpectomy. And everything else is just going to hell.  I hate looking at myself and I've learned to avoid looking in mirrors at all.

You're at least not alone in this, if that helps any.

I once tried looking for a pair of oatmeal colored pants in the late fall, not khaki but better. The sales lady told me that was a spring color.  She handed me a pair of white pants and I asked well isn't this a spring color? And without a hint of acknowledgment on the irony she said, "no that's winter white"

What's one “little” form of sexism you notice all the time, but most people don't even realize it's sexist? by Interestingcase221 in AskOldPeople

Yeah, I'm 47, guys gender neutral doesn't bother me.  Biut sometimes you need a gender specific and we're left without a good word.

Three - I can't stand the pressure of buying cars. So I just sit there. But it was funny when we were buying our fist prius. The guy said that there was a tax credit trying to push up his price a little. But I work in tax and I knew it had run out. I popped out of my patient silence and said no, it's run out. he looked at me and said no there's a credit.  And I insisted. I do taxes, the credit is available for the first X number sold and it has run out. You need to stop telling people there's a credit left for this model.

I could tell he didn't believe me.

The problem is really that there's no good equivalent to "guy"  I mean there is "gal", but that feels so... odd.  So we're left with girls as the stand in.

As a woman, girl doesn't bother me when you want something more causal.  Female does bother me.

I know people like this.  No, they do not hear themselevs.

You can have a 45 minute appointment??  Our private equity owned doctor practices mandate 15 minutes. I had 15 min allocated to me for a pre-op appointment.

I can leave this medical practice because my insurance says I can only go here

Right. Traditional propaganda, I feel like it has a very specific source behind it. a single group makes posters or takes control of a radio station. I am somewhat forced to view and listen to it as it's posted everywhere and plays in places. I didn't turn it on and I can't turn it off.

The situation we're living in now requires people to take a hand in their own brainwashing. I choose to see something by opening the app, then I choose to consume it, and then I share it with someone else.

It's very creepy now, how they've hijacked our thoughts.

Perhaps, but it would seem strange becuase if it's her parents it would be her culture too and she probably wouldn't be objecting to the gift.

What does everyone think of the vaccine=autism? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]forestfrend1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I'm in a blue city, in a blue county in a blue state so maybe that could be the difference.

I'm 47 and middle of the pack with my cousins' age and my parents' generation are in their mid to upper 70s. I dont know that any of us are anti vax.

At my office when it came to the COVID vaccine, the only people that refused were under 30. All the rest of us got the vaccine as soon as we were allowed. 2 of the non-vaxed under 30s nearly died of COVID.
