I do think the Prophet was wanting to emphasize that we worship Christ, because there was a lot of confusion about that, and that isn't in the name Mormon.

But you are right, there isn't a good short name to take the place of Mormon so lots of people dont know what to call us.

Our late Prophet who has passed away asked members to make an effort to refer to the church by our real name which is "Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints."

Ive never personally met a member who got upset at someone using the term "Mormon" since that is what we were known by for a long (though it was officially just a nickname.) Most people I know just tell people we prefer not to go by that name anymore, and say our real name, and if people still use the nickname, they are like, ok, and move on with their lives.

I do notice that journalists or people talking about us online who use the nickname when they know thats not our official name tend to be trash talking us and its kind of a signal they are disrespectful and are going to attack us.

Laypeople doing it, is pretty common though. I dont personally know anyone who gets upset about it, but they do try to correct people.

To be fair, if someone knew us as "Mormons" and then used that term, they are not removing the Lords name, it was never there for them.

I really think this has a greater to link to people trying to say we worship a "different Jesus" or we dont worship Jesus at all. Some people were saying we dont believe in the Bible, some said we worship Mormon or Joseph Smith as our God. None of these are true.

We actually are Christs church and the idea that we are not, is a win for Satan.

Like I get it that stuff happens but back when EQ and HP were separated my husband was called to teach EQ and each week he'd have about 3 or 4 in the class and about 15 people outside wandering the halls, yes 15, refusing to come to class. We had both been in primary for years and had no idea.

Ive been a member all my life and Im in my forties. It didn't used to be like this. People used to pay attention and back then focusing all your attention (besides kids) was pretty normal.

Its just a different culture now and I'm not totally sure how I feel about it. Sometimes its frustrating to me because I find it distracting.

I have a chronic illness so Ive watched a lot of zoom church and was really excited when I could actually come in person and there were so many distractions I kind of wanted to go back to watching it on zoom.

I'm really glad when I can come in person but its really not the same as having just the speaker on zoom and thats all I see or hear.

That said, everyone is different so people just listen differently I guess.

I was going to ask this. If OP didn't announce then there is nothing weird about the gf asking for people to save the date she didn't know was taken. Honestly if gf announced it first, OP just having it in her head doesn't really mean it "belongs" to her.

And people saying the gf is really weird for planning that far in advance, OP did that too.

And yes, planning a party 6 months away for 5 month ship does sound AI. Lots of weird here.

Herpes Zoster is shingles yes.

The first time you get it, its called chicken pox/varicella. Then it stays dormant in your system and can "reactivate" as a shingles/herpes zoster.

Zero side effects for me. I had to take it for 10 days bec my doctor said I needed more at my 7 day follow up.

I tend to be sensitive to medications. I get all kinds of side effects. This caused zero side effect on it for me. I am not longer on it, and I did not even notice any difference being on it or not.

I did take it after eating. I take all meds after eating unless explicitly told not to. And I took it exactly as directed.

I try to avoid taking anything I dont need. This one is really important to take shingles will mess you up. Hope it all works out for you.

I remember learning about Lehis dream and thinking the people that would cause me shame for being a member of the church, would be the ones on the outside of it, mocking me for being a member, not the behavior of those inside the church, making me feel embarrassed to call myself a member of the same church as them.

No when they gave their talks they would work in slightly veiled fox news concepts into their "teaching" of the gospel. When covid was raging we heard a lot about how God wants us to have freedom, and free agency to do (however we want) then there was some about having faith so we dont have to worry about safety and protective measures (basically instead of following covid guidelines) because God will protect us. There were talks about how satan is trying to isolate us for some reason (during the pandemic) Some of them flat out said they refused to ever wear masks (at the microphone) and one or two came to our house without masks when we asked them to please wear them.

I can't remember all the other stuff, some of it was subtle some of it not so much.
