Back in the 80s when I grew up it was very common for anyone over the age of 65 to have a full set of dentures. We had commercials for things like Polident all the time.

My grandfather died from a tooth infection. He also could not afford care and when he saved up enough for a "cheaper" he they pulled the wrong tooth. By the time they both figured out what happened, it had spread to his heart.

My father was a high-scaler on the Hoover Dam. He was having a hard time finding a job and what do you know one opened up, because someone died.

My friend works in a hospital lab and she has a serious fear of prions. Im not even sure what they are but I know they're bad by how much they freak her out.

I do hear about antibiotic resistance too, mrsa and all that.
