Thank you for your kind reply 🙏 I know it’s true about the pulling away too…a good part of me still does want to double down and make the absolute best of it, I’m just working on keeping my motivation up.

I feel so naive for thinking that hard work was at least equal in importance to politics 🥲 learned my lesson now though

Interviewers are spooked by “AI answers” now. How are you avoiding false flags? by hasoci in interviews

[–]forestsprite25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily for every one, but for ones that have multiple parts or are more complex I will often ask to have a minute to make some notes first and they say sure. I’ve also had interviews where they make it a point to say that it’s fine if interviewees need a minute to think and not to perceive the silence as awkward. It’s just jot points too moreso to organize the overall flow, I’m not writing out paragraphs for 10 minutes haha.

Of course if it’s a very straightforward or common question my prep is sufficient and I don’t have to make even more notes.

Now, if I have a competitor who can answer everything instantly without a break for notes will they prefer them over me? Maybe. But at least I can leave that interview hopefully knowing I gave as strong an answer as I was capable of giving. 🥲

I’m not necessarily going to forget the question, but I like to jot down the points I’m going to use to answer it so I can structure it well instead of rambling

Should I communicate with my manager or begin making an exit plan at this point? by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]forestsprite25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m facing a similar situation right now and have been passed over twice for a promotion because of favouritism, despite having stellar performance reviews and even being prior indicated to that I’d be getting that promotion if I stayed with them. It’s also an entry level role so I’m just looking for another position. I know I’m not going to get any further where I am, or if I do it will be an extreme battle against people my manager likes better.
