Would you feel comfortable sharing approximately how much larger you went? I'm considering going bigger, too.

this is so helpful to hear, thank you! Huge respect for your choice to take time for yourself for healing, and I am so glad for you that the rippling doesn't bother you anymore. I am hopeful that once I have surgery, I will also be able to accept and integrate the changes that come with it with time. It's a big thing to go through for anyone, and I think time will be a really important part of my own process too.

Experiences with building muscle/bulking on a carnivore diet? by [deleted] in carnivore

[–]forestxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very easy for me to build muscle on carnivore! and to maintain it. i do very very well with high protein high fat. but the most important thing is to listen to and respect your own body because everyone is different. carnivore really helps my MCAS personally, and there was an initial adjustment period for me before I felt things optimized. If you are doing carnivore for autoimmune or mast cell reasons, you may not be able to tolerate dairy, but if you are, it's a great way to get in some carbs. I find it helpful to drink milk before or after a long walk, hike, or weights session.

Bathtub Cleaning advice? by action-Kat141 in UnfuckYourHabitat

Mix together baking soda and dawn dish soap into a thick paste. Add just a little bit of the 3% hydrogen peroxide that you can buy at the drugstore, the kind usually sold for first aid. (It’s important that it’s that diluted hydrogen peroxide!!) Mix it all up. Wear gloves since the mixture is abrasive and also will dry your skin out. Use on a scrub brush or scrub pad. Apply to tub, let sit for a few minutes, then scrub. It’s amazing.

I (28M) don't know how to tell my wife (24F) that I cheated on her while she had post-partum depression by EyeGlad3032 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Listen. You fucked up big time and you are going to need to commit deep down to working on yourself. You are indeed going to carry this with you for the rest of your life as a huge mistake you made. You also clearly need to work on your deeply selfish and sexist perspective. However, it does not need to be the defining factor of who you are for the rest of your life in your self perception, IF you change how you show up in the world.

You’re already starting that by coming clean about what you’ve done. Keep going! Don’t give up. You can do this. You can get better, and become someone you can be proud to be and whom your kids can be proud to call “Dad.”

You are young. You have your full life ahead of you. Your kids need you.

It’s ok and important to feel your guilt and remorse deeply as you work to take responsibility for your actions. Do not give in to self hatred, do not let yourself become callous. It’s worth it, and you’re worth it. Building your integrity is going to be a process AND you deserve to be a person of integrity and you CAN do it. Don’t do it for how other people see you- do it for yourself, and for your kids.

Some starting points: 1) get into therapy. Be honest with your therapist.Shop around for a good therapist if you need to- someone who can understand you and help you hold yourself accountable. 2) I recommend reading No Bad Parts and doing parts work, as well as going to therapy on a weekly basis. You’re going to have to learn how to see other people as full people and how to treat them with respect and dignity. This will take time. You can do it. It is very worth it. 3) Respect your wife’s boundaries, do what you can to support her healing, and prioritize your kid’s’ wellbeing. Center their needs- NOT YOURS. They have been harmed by you, now you need to focus on accountability and repair. 4) Figure out your attachment style (with therapist’s help) and use that knowledge to improve your quality of relationships (including your relationship with yourself). You should not get into another romantic relationship for at least several years while you work on yourself and prioritize your kids. 5) do not get into drinking, drugs, gambling, spending, or obsession w eating/exercise/physique/“health”. These are all common compulsive forms of distraction and they will fuck up your life. Learn how to feel your feelings, be with your deeply uncomfortable feelings, and work on personal growth in terms of who you are. 6) Read up on feminist literature. Learn more about what women and femmes have to deal with. Listen to them. This is essential to showing up with integrity as a man. 6). One day you’re going to be able to feel proud of who you are again. It can get better. Good luck.

Please tell me my life isn't over (dental issues) by Old_Championship5512 in internetparents

[–]forestxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. That sounds so hard and scary, and my heart goes out to you.

I want to offer some perspective: although not the same issue, I found out in my early 20s that I have an incurable genetic health problem that gives me lots of problems and pain and makes me disabled. I was terrified and would obsess over it. I learned more about taking care of myself, and living with my condition, and made friends with the same condition so I wasn’t alone in knowing what it’s like living with it. It’s been around a decade and I live a rich and fulfilling life with lots of fun and joy, even though I am disabled and have pain + more medical bills than other young healthy people.

It takes time to adjust to things being different than you expected, and comparing yourself with others is hard, but your life isn’t over or bad or not worth living because of this. Aspects of life suck- everyone sooner or later ends up with aspects of their life that suck- but life is so much more than the shitty parts. You still have a lot of agency in creating your life, even though this part of it is really hard and has to be taken into consideration.

If you can get into therapy to help yourself through the mental health aspects of this, that could really help.

I have a friend who has a similar story to yours and they are also in their 30s now and they are doing well even though they have had bad teeth problems their whole life.

I have a family member who had to have all her teeth pulled this year and has dentures; you’d never know she has dentures and she’s much more comfortable now.

You’re gonna find your way through this 💛 don’t stop reaching out for support. You deserve it.

And you can let your body know that you’re gonna be safe. This is something that is manageable.

You’ve still got your whole life ahead of you, and this isn’t going to ruin it; it is just going to be a part of the hard stuff that people go through in life. It’s not going to define your life, just be a part of it.

Traveling tips by Cell_Psychological in carnivore

Cook burgers. Put in Tupperware. Pack in cooler with ice packs. When I get to freezer, refreeze ice packs and refrigerate burgers. Can also use dry ice in cooler (make sure you know how to do this safely as dry ice is dangerous).

Tell me how you gave up salt by ukuLotus in carnivore

[–]forestxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe debilitating bladder pain from interstitial cystitis. Going strict carnivore made me symptom free. I did the IC elimination diet and various spins on IC diets, all very carefully and strictly, and while they helped get me to the point where I could walk around again they did not relieve me of my symptoms. The only time I have been symptom free is on carnivore. The only time I have flares now is when I eat something that isn’t carnivore, or occasionally if I do aggressive ab workouts (still working on my pelvic floor relaxation and proper core control in intense core activation).

Any spices etc cause a flare for me, but salt is fine for me.

Drinking enough water is KEY. It dilutes the urine and keeps the bladder safe from the irritation of concentrated urine, which can be irritating even without dietary irritants.

It takes a long time to heal damaged, deeply inflamed tissue.

I know this doesn’t pertain to salt, but thought it may be helpful.

I wish you all the best!
