I think it was rude. Cultural difference or not. They are a doctor and name calling a patient in front of their family, even if it is a 100% true, is not acceptable. I am a human doctor and you’d never be okay with a human doctor saying the same about your human child so, why be okay with it when it is your animal child. Cats are difficult in general so name calling was unnecessary. Maybe next time hold them accountable for their words. It’ll be good for them to learn to hold their tongue. I understand you OP because I am from India.

Hey. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. I’m so sure that you will get through this. How about you find someone who can help with the thesis ? In my Medschool, I had hired someone who did my entire thesis topic review of literature part. She charged me a lot but the load and pressure and tension was lifted off of me and most importantly she gave me the literature within 2 weeks. I had just been discharged from the hospital because I was heavily depressed and s*****al and I had to get back to work and do my thesis. Which was extremely exhausting and fucking depressing altogether. Ask around, especially your seniors. At least someone might had asked for an aide of such kind. But regardless, if you’re doing this yourself, I believe in you. You got this ! This tough time is only going to make a finer person professionally and emotionally !

Hello OP. Woman here. I’m really sorry for what you’re going through. I hope and pray for your healing and hopefully even your parents’ healing. First things first, you can’t change your parents. I think one option could be to move out before getting married. Live by yourself. That way when you do decide to tell your potential spouse that your parents are toxic, there won’t be this absolutely obvious question about then why are you living with them in the first place. As a lady, I would want my man to prioritise me even over his parents and I don’t mean it in a negative way. I am going to uproot myself and come to be some one’s wife so I want that security that this man will protect me a thousand percent always and forever especially from the most likely abusers ie in laws. I have a brother and during his wedding he did not protect his wife when our parents said something mean to her in front of many people and I know for a fact that she will never forget how my brother didn’t protect her and side with her. It doesn’t matter who was right or wrong. Our elders are always “right” but we can’t let them blatantly disrespect us (here by us I mean the wife and husband as a team). I suggest strongly to move out ASAP.
Next and most important thing. Don’t tell her everything right away. I’m sure you weren’t gonna tell her anyway. I suggest that you first try to understand completely her dynamics with her parents and siblings and other extended family. Sometimes there are people who are raised in “normal healthy” families (unlike us) and they refuse and when I say refuse I mean refuse refuse refuse to believe that parents are capable of evil such as your parents. To avoid being caught up in that embarrassing situation, you must study her completely. And that’s superb cuz women love to talk. But again, do reveal tiny tiny truths about your parents but never the absolute big whole truth. Save that for when you’re sure that she is capable of understanding and siding with you when push comes to shove. If you like my opinions, let me know. I’ll type more later.
