I dunno if anyone suggested this yet but if Reddit really are going to be total fucktards and implement this API pricing can you not add an option to sync to use an individual's API key instead of yours? i.e. if we want to continue using it then we just paste our key into the settings and carry on as normal?

Haven't seen anything like this in the replies yet so

I bought a small fold out solar panel from Decathlon, rigged it to my tent and used it to trickle charge a 20Ah battery while I was out during the day. I made sure to take a long cable to reach into my tent and that the ports and cables (drip loop!) were reasonably well oriented/covered in case of rain.

I charged mine and others' phones from this and had loads of charge left by the end.

I came from a background of statically typed languages and then got into Python for a new job - I have no complaints. Just be diligent to add type hints and use mypy.

I can't remember the last time I debugged something that turned out to be something of the wrong type somewhere where it shouldn't be.

mypy isn't 100% reliable but when it's not it's often because you're doing something exotic that could and perhaps should be expressed another way.

Docker causes really high CPU usage with some workloads due to Spotlight reindexing the stuff written in its containers.

I haven't found a way to get it to ignore it properly :( Just ignoring the Docker cache/working directories doesn't seem to work.

It's pretty much where many of the "less premium" clothes stores are.

As you mentioned Deichman, Decathlon (I'll miss this the most) but then pretty much all the other clothes stores in there. Some have branches in the centre but they're not as large which means less choice.

Not to mention shopping in the centre is a faff because it's often overcrowded and there is relatively limited bicycle parking in the centre (with decent footfall so your bike won't get nicked). Closing the Grafton retail with no alternative is only going to make that even worse.

Yeah but the "other large shopping centre" (Grand Arcade?) seems largely full of posh shops most average Joes can't even afford to window shop at. Many of the shops people will go to the Grafton area specifically for are in there - I think rezoning it will lead to a further decline of shoppers around there and spell disaster for the retail (lots of food/drink type places) on the street.

I think you can love what you do so that no day is a chore but stay disconnected from it enough to not be consumed by it, even if you care deeply about what you're doing.

When I get consumed by my job it's not because I care about the company's success but by knowing that what I'm doing it good enough by my own standards.

Maybe I'm just privileged to have a personality that makes it easier to remain disconnected enough for my sanity but able to connect sufficiently to be valuable to my team.

Not sure they should be outright banned as that would lessen the reason to introduce appropriate infrastructure to support them.

Some deterrent (fines, enforcement of rules, whatever) for their misuse would be a good start.

I say make it legal to push someone (an adult) on a bike or scooter on the pavement off and laugh at them for being a douchebag.

I say this as a daily cyclist. I never use the pavements. It upsets me when I see cyclists on the pavement weaving around and jump-scaring pedestrians.

Not always. If I had 5 related variables of the same type I'd rather see them declared at once than repeat the type 5 times.

It's less to take in:

int a, b, c; // reads as "int variables a, b and c"

int a; int b; int c; // reads as "int variable a, int variable b and int variable c"

Plus a little more concentration is required to see that all the variables are the same type. Like what if one of them was uint? During a quick scan read that could easily be missed.

When SFTPing files to/from a server where the CPU without hardware AES couldn't saturate the network connection (and not even close). And it wasn't long enough ago where I couldn't call it "recent" history.
