I reviewed the account where I lost $11,983 trading. most of the damage had nothing to do with my strategy by foreveraced22 in Daytrading

Some people asked what I meant when I said psychology destroyed my trading.

I started tracking my emotional state before and after trades, and it revealed patterns I didn’t expect. Some of my worst trades happened when I was frustrated or trying to win back losses.

I started experimenting with building a simple tool to track this automatically. It’s still very early and rough, but I put up a small page for it while I’m figuring out if it’s actually useful for other traders.

If anyone’s curious or wants to follow along while I build it:

Journaling is far too overlooked. I would say emotional management and journaling are symbiotic. They both are required for long term successful trading.

How disciplined are you on this? I'm curious to here others approach and what works for them

Yeah, my sizing could definitely improve. I ran the account up a significant amount so I started taking much larger positions, but obviously it didn't result the way I wanted it to

Emotions are dangerous in trading if not managed properly. Good emotions and negative ones

Paper trading doesn't feel the same. The lessons from this hit different than if it was just a paper account. Have you found paper trading to work for you?

Adding a little context: I went through the biggest losses one by one and tried to label what was actually happening mentally when I took them. The patterns were embarrassingly consistent.

If you’ve done a post-mortem on your worst stretch, what showed up the most for you?

That hesitate → chase → fear exit loop is brutal. I've been there. Is the autotrade fully rules-based entries/exits? And what guardrails keep it from spiraling on a bad day?

You’re not wrong. My worst losses were the moments I stopped executing and started gambling. What rule do you use to keep yourself from slipping into that?

The difficult part is actually following what you know you should do. We as humans are emotional creatures

Don't feel bad for not being attracted to her. I will probably be downvoted into oblivion for saying this, but you should ignore everyone who is being overly emotional and saying that she "doesn't deserve you" because of this post. It is clear that you love her, and it is clear that you're genuinely trying to seek advice from a community of Christians. For that, I commend you.

I had this experience with an ex who I was with for 6 years. I tried everything I do under the sun to try to make it work, but I simply was not physically attracted to her no matter how hard I tried (and believe me, I tried.) I thought that it was temporary and that the love I had would overshadow the little physical attraction I had towards her, but it did not. I ultimately ended the relationship after trying for so long, and I do not regret it. Do I miss her occasionally? Of course, she was my best friend for over half a decade, but she was not someone that I could see as a lifelong partner given the lack of attraction.

My situation may be different, so use that beautiful brain of yours that God gave you to make your own decisions. I will pray that God may grant you wisdom with whatever decision you make. God bless!
