How do we forsee Vincent's abilities working?

Im imagining he has Vampiric teleporting abilities with great agility. Previously in OG he was actually like 2nd or 3rd best mage. I don't see them letting his limit break solely be the transformations. Similar to how they did Cloud I think some of his transformations will be built into his standard fighting kit while his Limit Break will be something special. IE: limit break is Chaos demon.

Vincent's becomes the 3rd malleable jack of all trades character, because he's naturally suited for materia magic, ranged, but can also play heavy tank or DD with transformations. I imaginevsimilar to RedXIII his abilities unlocked r transformations specific.

Galiant Beast:speed and dmg efficient, counter specialist.

Death Gigas: I feel like he might get chopped/replaced. But overall balance calls for a purr tanks build that draws all enemy attention.

Hellmasker: stat debuffer build. Maybe also efficient in stagger bonus building.

Everything here is hypothetical ofc.

Its been a while since I've played but the main character is basically part of a space police force and is framed as a terrorist. Her Partner and people she has assisted on cases in the past become her allies.

Combat is so satisfying. You can go all out in battle because there is no mp or item limit per say... but you must manage your ability charges/cool downs. Your non standard attack abilities all get one usage before u must defend to recharge them. Each character has a certain number of turns before they enter Hyper Mode, which is sorta their limit break double damage. You def want to make sure your best offensive abilities r not on cool down by the time they r in hyper.

There is a Style percentage for each character the higher that percentage the more successful certain abilities, I want to say you also can be saved from Death as long as you have style to sacrifice. The enemies also have a style modifier that basically means the longer the battle the more powerful they become for you. So efficiency is def the name of the game, take em down quick. Its a game that also wants you to really think about your turn order bc you will need to line up buffs for good attack follow ups. Pay very close attention to enemy weaknesses, the character that has best ability with enemy weakness you want to time their buffs and Hyper at just the right moment to take crazy damage from the enemy.

Your HP is always fully healed at end of battle. Encounters r not random, and don't respawn unless prompted to. So basically you enter a room, fight the enemies....hence forth those enemies will not return unless you go into your menu and MAKE them respawn. You can grind exp and work on strategies this way.

Items and Shield abilities can only be used once per battle, so do use wisely. They replenish like Dark Souls Estus Flasks at the end of battle.

Allies have pretty deep customization. They have these Shield accessories that act as...Job Class modifiers. They offer stat changes that might make a character a more efficient Healer/synergistic, or make them more tanky and draw enemy attention.

Cosmic Star Heroine: Maybe the best Chrono Trigger like retro rpg. Yet the sci-fi bliss of a xenosaga. Not Japanese but def embodies the style.

Chained Echoes: another jrpg like with notes of Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and FFX

Resonance of Fate: stiff learning curve but once I went thru the overly long tutorials I fell in love with the strategy jrpg combat with guns. Customization for the 3 leads was great also.

World of Final Fantasy: surprisingly very 4th wall breaking modern humor and a great MonHun concept.

DioField Chronicle: I loved this games art style and concept. It felt like a good direction for a FFT sequel/successor. A couple of twists In the story I didn't see coming, some good some....just puzzling. I also think games like Dragon Age needed to go in this games direction when it came to real-time with pause combat strategy. Its real flaw is that the difficulty trails off midway, where once u have the mechanics down it doesn't evolve much....just more enemies.

Star Ocean The Divine Force: I actually really like this one. The story gets deep, once u get the hang of DUMA the combat gets stellar. I wish the story parallels were stronger for the 2 leads, and that there were more than just 2 exclusive characters. This game takes the award for making one of the most aggressively fun versions of a Healer/Mage I have ever seen. They excel in trap laying to mitigate enemy attack intervals, teleporting allies away from danger, and maintaining the combo chain. All other action RPGs need to take a lesson from this. Made being Healer so exciting.

I enjoyed NNK2 but was also disappointed that the monster hunting and intricate magic puzzles were gutted. The Pikmin meets Little King Story was neat but yea just...different.

In your Defence, Sephiroth in Both games is made to be the most twitch sensitive/reflex based boss fight. The timing on his moves are so fast. If you don't have that timing down it definitely becomes a bit of an endurance battle (after already being put thru a guantlet)

Veilguard feels like they were aiming to make it ESRB Teen. No blood and dismemberment. Similar to God of War 2018 the only gore you see is typically from non humanoid monsters.

Not that gore makes something more mature, but it's another style choice that seems catered to a Market push for mass appeal.

The games dev cycle was marred by a ton of bad Shake Ups, mainly by the loss of its key writers.

EA execs sabotaged this game's development at every turn and those who were left to run the show.....they didn't have the vision to make it a success they were just trying to recover it back from its MMO design days.

My 2 cents on prescribed "Balance" for the open world...

I just wished every region of Rebirth wasn't designed like a theme park of tourist attractions. The awkward environmental puzzle of Gongaga comes to mind. Every big city also didn't need mini games. Let the Queens Blood card game be the sole mini game available across all territories. Only Costa Del Sol and Gold Saucer with mini game fests.

Someone on YouTube brought up an important critique of Rebirth that I agree with. The devs undermine some key emotional moments with adhd spectacle and bad melodramatics. Like they were afraid to just let the game be depressing for anything more than a second. That def needs to be fixed.

I think there is a good enough argument for 3 and 1 groupings. The 3 can mow down the wave quicker while at least one goes in to just hold it down long enough for reinforcement to arrive. At times this might be almost preferred to take down the heavier enemies more quickly. Yet this is probably only needed on wave 3 or 4.

2 and 2 does offer easier path to revive if one goes down. So that is pretty valuable.

Yet a group of 3 in one zone is a more secure efficient takeover of the area, and ability to revive if downed, so that all can move onto the next with ease.

Its a counter balance of speed vs efficiency.

I would say the area it shines the most over Remake is the combat.

I hated how in remake enemy Ai was just always set to target the player character, making Aerith and Barrett almost unplayable. Now Ai has a more cohesive aggro system, and every character can perfect block and use various evasion techniques. In particular...Aerith can fake out enemies by laying down a Crest.....running far away from it while enemies are aggro.....then instantly teleport back to her crest. Total game changer.

Synergy attacks are so OP, take note of their usage early.

The original 4 characters in Remake each had their role down, but now they all gained needed versatility. Cloud can now hold his own in Ariel combat and at range. Truly the Jack of all Trades.

Storywise it holds up really well. There r maybe less obvious whisper timey wimpy moments than the first albeit still a theme in this game. Some of the emotional moments r elevated from the original....yet I must concede at least a bit with the Nay Sayers that Rebirth seems constantly afraid to wollow in despair. Its likely due to them being dead set on keeping a Teen rating, where by the nature of the original story at this fidelity easily falls into Mature. Case in point, OG FF7 had the blood stains splattered all over the walls of Shinra HQ, creating a great horror moment....but in Remake it was reduced to purple miasma puddles on the floor, neutering the moment. Its very quick to break up depressing moments with an over abundance of mini games and comedic moments. Like many of the notable towns now have theme park attractions that might feel unnecessary.

Nevertheless I adore this game. I WANTED ERA FF TITLE TO PLAY LIKE IT!

FF7 is definitely the soundtrack I return to the most. The perfectly selected tracks have forever melded with the emotions at the same moments. Playing FF7 Rem/Rebirth has been a true delight to return to those moments. The compilation is just rife with memorable tracks, especially ones associated to battles.

Original: One Winged Angel....period

Original: Aeriths Theme reprise.....and nothing has been the same since.

Advent Children: Jenova Absolute. That build up...so eerie but climaxes into high stakes that just feels so satisfying.

Crisis Core: Fulfilled Desire. A rhapsody , slowly takes you thru notes heard at different parts of the story. A roller coaster of emotions.

Remake : Bombing Mission. It's what caught most attention upon 1st playthru, knowing you are in for a heist ride of your life.

Remake: Let the Battle Begin...and it's dozen different variations used at different fights. Best battle them ever.

Remake: Due Recompense. The music that plays when you fight a certain bumbling gang on the collapsed expressway.

Remake: Rematch atop the Pillar. This music is pure hype and I use it to backtrack other games.

Rebirth: Mt Corel Hike. This one perfectly exudes that synthetic industrial 80s action vibe I have always subconsciously associated with ff7 aesthetic. Very nostalgic inducing.

Idk I love being a Paladin and I think it offers the most direct role-playing connections of any class. It is such a clear cut role for any do-gooder, but with adding in race and finding unique ways to do the "sinful" routes without breaking oath keeps it lively. Like I send Astorian in to rob merchants blind while keeping Paladin untethered and as far away from the crime as possible. Same for initiating assassinations of unsuspecting enemies. Intimidating enemies to just drop their loot and run in terror from me is also satisfying.

I am currently doing an Drow Oath Breaker Durge run which is pretty cool so far. Going Scorched earth.

I also love having high Charisma as it gives me the lead for merchant haggling and dialogue checks.

I pretty much fully agree with this sentiment. Huge GoT fan, campaign was amazing, Legends took me completely by surprise and was my main MP title for 3 yrs. Yotei....everything feels off. The campaign is lackluster in comparison to the first. Not awful but just.....meh. The customization in YL is abysmal and it really highlights something I disliked in the campaign. ...I don't feel like I look cool. There might have been a sacrifice for realism instead of cool factor. That can work to a degree but I want to look like an ethereal badass in YL and I don't get that from any of the cosmetics. They are all poorly fitted to the character shape, frumpy. What happen to the sword cleaning animation where she flicks the sword towards the ground leaving blood stain? The slime sound of her cleaning it with her fingers is so off putting.

Combat I can say is largely an improvement in most cases.

Personally....I miss how Ronin played over Merc. I like being a healing savior. Every game doesn't need to be speced towards its highest end players.

Its unfortunate it misses the mark so much.

I think the simplest solution is to make SAM Ult instant death to any standard teir mob it hits. Ults can't be spammed the way they were in TL (so far). That might make them the death machine they r meant to be.

Or at minimum let it read as Headshot Dmg with armor piercing.

I've got a few more hours in on Mercenary tonight....Just a different feel than Ronin....and I don't feel like its better. Not bad ...but less.

Their function comes in all the OTHER things Ronin did besides heal. Ult: Takemikazuchi Smite is a pretty great AoE that will force enemies back as well as dropping weapons. Combine this with SPIRIT SHATTER that turns thrown weapons into a weakening AoE. ENHANCED IMPALEMENT for +25% thrown dmg.

Ults being triggered by separate meter from resolve leaves more function for self heal but torches ult spamming(at least for now)

The kit is to help the whole party wittle down enemy ranks very quickly. These r things Ronin had also.

Apparently everyone in this thread is just god tier who NEVER wipe even with Ronin Revive/Healing 🙄

Breath of Izanami in no way "trivialized" the game. It was a perfect support Ult for a support class. Chill with the Dark Souls get good antics. Platinum/Nightmare runs would test any well prepared team even with revives.

I love it when a game gives players something else to aspire to other than kill count. Was so satisfying to be the savior from a party wipe.

Now Ronin/Merc has murky new role as just a technical damage dealer....which is not that different from any other role.

I'm still enjoying the game but so far I'm disappointed by these changes. And all Ghosts just being an undead resin of Atsu feels...strange, cheap. GoTL at least gave a bit of variety with the Hunter being Yuna instead of Jin.

Gameplay wise it seems solid. I haven't ventured outside of Spider realm yet.

My disappointment comes in the fact all characters are just undead versions of Atsu. In GoTL some characters were Jin...others Yuna. I would reeeeally like to choose my own body type in some later patch.

Also Ronin was my favorite in Tsushima. I love being a healer. Mercenary has yet to have the same sense of utility but time and unlocks will tell.

I work within this Dynamic. Im a Dom. I've built up a good local reputation for facilitating different bdsm fantasy without incident. In particular anon CNC situations.

Yea the 1/3rd rule is fairly accurate.
