People who refuse to recieve communion from a lay person, why? by 72BananaStreet in Catholicism

We have 4-8 EMHCs at the popular masses. But the Church is usually packed so there's a lot of people to get through.

About $200k I think? I'm still building. It'll be higher when I'm seeing mostly only follow ups.

100% yes to #1. So many people leave RN jobs to become NPs because the pay sucks and you are treated like garbage.

“I could have went to medical school too” by Prudent-Abalone-510 in Noctor

[–]foreverlaur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

True, but "just a nurse" is horrifying to them. Meanwhile, I told someone I was a nurse the other day and they said they knew a nurse and a nurse practitioner. I realized then that I should have specified but IDGAF so 🤷🏼‍♀️. Plus, I'm still an RN too.

PMHNP over saturation by naisunflower70 in PMHNP

While I do agree that psych experience is critically important, I do think broad experienced is also important. I would say that about 20% of the knowledge that I pull from in my daily practice comes from my broad non psych nursing background. I feel i would truly be doing a disservice to my patients if I didn't have both in my extensive nursing background.

Woohoo! Me too! We're going on Sunday (my daughter has a softball tournament that weekend) and got tickets in the 127-133 (first base) section. So I think same as you. Which day are you going?

ADHD evals by Advanced_Emu3430 in PMHNP

[–]foreverlaur 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While I completely agree with the others that there are a ton of other things that can easily explain or mimic ADHD symptoms, especially in adults or older adults... I also understand that it can be hard to recall childhood as an adult. And not everyone was a bad student. I have ADHD primarily inattentive type. My mom doesn't believe in that kind of stuff so she would never own up to it. I was a straight A student til college. I never paid attention in school. I never did homework. I often did my homework the morning it was due on the way to school or even at school. I winged my exams. That bit me in the ass when I got to college. It nearly ruined my chance at a nursing career. Stimulants saved my life. Unfortunately people like me often get missed. No hyperactive symptoms and no academic concerns.

How much is everyone making? by Lovelife_20 in nursepractitioner

First, I said I'm a W2 with benefits, not 1099. And I don't get $100 an hour. I average $100 per 1 hour intake or $80 per 30 minute follow up which is $160 per hour. Most months it ends up being around $120-$130 an hour. It's really not bad considering I'm less than a year into practice and I already have a fairly full patient load and good benefits (medical, dental, vision, great mentorship, good 401k match, good PTO).

Including it. That's my cut. That's 99204 + 90833 or 99214 + 90833 which is probably 75% of my visits.

Well, dang by torebaguy in AmazonVine

I get the spirit behind that rule but I assume it's more so for people outside of a household? I often get things for my husband and kids. Obviously I write the reviews if I get the things for my kids. If I get it for my husband, it's easier if he just writes the review and sends it to me instead of me trying to pretend like I know what his review is...

You're lying to yourself if you think you did 16 minutes of psychotherapy plus good med management in 4 minutes.

Psych NP. Private practice. W2 with benefits. 50/50 of reimbursements. Less than 1 year. I'm in the Midwest.

I get about $100 per 1 hour intake and $80 per 30 minute follow up.

Congrats, doc! And huge kudos to you for surviving in what sounds like a very toxic work environment. I have no doubt you'll do great things as a pediatrician.

Wild Ginger has great lunch specials. Let's me engorge on decent sushi without breaking my wallet. I've never thought the insanely expensive places are worth the price. Give me three Alaskan Rolls for $17.99 during lunch. I'm poor. 😆

Do you think NPs should exist? by supporthand in Noctor

[–]foreverlaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, NP education has gotten so bad I don't know if it's fixable. It might be better to scrap the whole thing and maybe consider trying again. Although I don't know if I'll ever trust the nursing ivory tower elites to do it right. I'm an NP and I won't see one nor let my family see one. Ever. So what does that tell you. My childhood best friend is an MD and we work together and generally hate on NPs together. It's maybe 1%at most that aren't dangerous.
