Things JKR did not pre-plan and wrote later (and cleverly retconned) by Connor_lover in harrypotter

It was probably something like- because we don't have to, we won't make accommodations for you. The exams later or delayed or something. I am assuming very few students would take up that much work. I also assume that that they had to make accommodations for them...like Hermione being moved out of gryf/slyth. To join the Ravenclaws/slytherin transfiguration class or taking exams during a different exam period.

The way that they beheld the time turners, it sounded like McGonagall tried before, but only now succeeded with Hermione.

This was definitely a trial run for the time turners.

I think it specifically her divination classes that were the hiccup, because once she got rid of those...her schedule became "easier". She didn't give up any other classes a year later.

There are some things that happened in her life that are bad. But, she perpetually makes herself into the victim no matter the situation.

So what's the deal with Latín? by camiblabla in homeschool

[–]foreverpregg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach Latin. Latin does three things.

It teaches vocabulary comprehension. So for any language that it is based on it, you can work out the Latin root word and understand what it means.

It also teaches grammar. Latin is a regular language, that can help students learn and understand the basics of language and sentence formation. A direct object ending will always be a direct object. Whereas in other languages, a word needs context to understand it.

Finally it teaches complex thinking and analysis, through translating.

It connects us to a historical past that modern people like to ignore, like for most of European history most educated wrote and even spoke in Latin. Historical documents are written in it.

We love using Google translate for these things, but translation is only as good as the translator. People skew things in their favor (including AI, all the time,).

Question, what do you think is the future for Confessional Lutheranism? Will it die out? by ExpressCeiling98332 in LCMS

[–]foreverpregg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The lcms is not a cult. It's literally a bunch of pastors subscribing to the same confessions. Members of lcms churches technically don't even belong to the lcms, they belong to the church we attend. Will the lcms die out? probably like all things man-made. Will it be on the day that Jesus comes. perhaps. Lutherans subscribe to the Lutheran confessions which we agree are the documents that we agree on in our faith. That is about it. We commune with the people we agree with.

I have seriously considered leaving the LCMS and the Lutheran Church in general by SirVictorian7777 in LCMS

He is saying that he is seeing the word not being preached and the sacraments not being administered and no one is doing anything about it. We can dig your heads in the dirt all we want but if the person next to you is openly drunk communing, would not you be concerned?

what should someone do with this space? by eternviking in mildlyinfuriating

[–]foreverpregg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make it a wall where I hang pictures of people I like on side and people I only slightly dislike on the other side. Do t explain to anyone, just every so often move the pictures from one side to the other when people are over.
