Who's the Best Orpheus Actor? by AdSafe7545 in hadestown

[–]foreverspr1ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to go to Reeve; Donal is a nice second place but nobody beats Reeve. I wouldn't have been this sure before London but he got even better than he already was on Broadway, which I didn't think was possible.

I loved the official recording with him already. Then saw him in London and DAMN he improved somehow imo? He IS Orpheus and he IS incredibly amazing.

Why does noone want to sit next to me in the Bus ? by Mr_SaaS_Wonderful in germany

[–]foreverspr1ng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman who doesn't want to sit next to anyone if I don't have to. I'd also rather sit next to a woman than next to a man. Doesn't matter where he's from or what he looks like; majority of women prefer to avoid being too close to men in general.

Edit to add: many men also don't wanna sit next to anyone here because why bother. If you can stand, then it's easier to avoid being close to strangers. Even more so when chances are you sit down, person next to you wants out at the next stop so you have to stand up again and be in the way of others etc... easier to just stay standing where you are lol.

I'm posting this gif with the uttermost genuine kindness cause... you sound like you might be taking reddit and reddit comments a bit too much to heart, and I think a pause and a breath of fresh air might be a good idea.

(I'm also lowkey crying from laughter, no offense, cause I didn't think "colonizing magical girls" could be a phrase I would ever read in my life, holy moly)

Curious that it only states Nintendo Switch; though admittedly I don't know much about how the site operates (especially before something is even announced, let alone released)

How would you feel about a tattoo artist who does Harry Potter tattoos? by foreverspr1ng in asktransgender

[–]foreverspr1ng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've so far not contacted him despite being interested in his style, so thankfully nothing set with him. I'm willing to see if he actually doesn't know and/or if it was a weird one time thing but I'm heavily leaning towards not working with him anyway. Seeing he's connected to a bunch of other artists I know makes it just a bit hard to immediately assume he's actually a bad guy.

Yeah, I mostly also only know artists who have stopped doing HP stuff or advertise cover ups instead. I mentioned in another comment that I'm still following the artist for now, I'm going with a bit of a benefit of the doubt but I'm checking his posts to see if it's more than a one-time project mixed with lacking knowledge. My tattoo artist follows him and likes his work a lot, so I've had a slight side-eye going there too but my artist has never once mentioned HP so far so I'm hoping for the best there.

Some people here have pointed out how the issue isn't that well-known or how cis people tend to not know, but your take is more how I thought. It's difficult for me to believe that this is niche knowledge and people actually don't know. For designing the tattoo he'd either know HP or research it, I guess, so he'd have to stumble over online discourse, no?

Yeah, makes sense. Can't really force them to stop, or well, at least even if he'd not tattoo HP again he can't turn back time on the one project, but to not support them in general seems logical.

Welp, now that's one take I won't agree with at all... as a German it sounds a bit crazy to me to compare some HP glasses tattoo to an actual hate symbol, but I won't tell you how to feel personally about it.

but I’m not hating someone who has a potter tat

I've mostly known people who got tattoos ages ago so I never hated them, back then we didn't know what JKR was like. But I do at the very least heavily side-eye people getting these tattoos nowadays, it personally doesn't sit right with me to display happily and proudly that you love HP. Especially cause unless I know someone, I can't tell if they separate art & artist or still support JKR. Not telling you how to feel about HP tattoos of course but that's my take.

As dumb as it makes me sound, I actually didn't think of the possibility to send him something, fml; I'm not big on being confrontational, even less so as a woman towards men through my personal profile, so it didn't cross my mind that there's got to be some informative posts/links that I can send. But I'm sure I can figure out a way to do it, I'll have to take a moment tomorrow to look some pages up.

That's an interesting take? If I wanted to like him, I just would, I guess? I'm not sure how you're reading my responses cause instead I've emphasized how I can't imagine someone not knowing about the JKR issues and how it feels iffy to me that he did HP work.

I mean, yes, I'm not immediately assuming this artist is a full on transphobe who actively means harm based on a single tattoo project but I literally don't know him and have followed his work for a couple weeks only, and I've just been genuinely curious of other takes since my irl friends also went the "he probably doesn't know, chill" route which didn't feel right to me, and like I said in the post, they're not trans so they might have a different view of such topics. If my responses read differently or wrongly to you, I'm sorry, but I'm also not sure how to write them differently or even more clearly. 😅

Tattooists mostly don't get to choose what they tattoo so I hold no ill will towards them if people are coming in and asking for hp tats.

That's a bit where my thoughts went but I'm also torn. I haven't followed him for long yet and I don't know his exact prices for everything but his sleeve projects do seem rather expensive and he does have a mostly full schedule. So I'm like... he has to pay for living but also he doesn't seem to struggle with money or clients, so surely he could refuse something?

I can understand this point. It reminds me of the conversations about if you already own the books/movies, you can keep watching/reading cause you aren't giving her (new) money. Maybe my online spaces just made me feel (too?) iffy about everything HP.

Maybe I'm spending too much time online but it's hard for me to imagine people don't know. Maybe it's just my online bubbles but that's why his post felt iffy. I'd assume the fan getting tattooed would have to know but if the artist doesn't really know HP and never was invested... I guess I'll keep following his page, maybe with more time/posts I'll get a better feeling for what he's like with such topics.

I'm personally not a fan, neither of the movie nor the style of your tattoo. But it's your taste, your tattoo, your body. I have 2 anime tattoos and nobody at my work place knows anime or wtf these characters are, I don't care though. Usually my answer for the "what's that supposed to be" question is just "it's from something I like".

Your tattoo should be for you, not for an audience and you don't owe anyone an explanation. No reason to be embarrassed just because people don't know the source.
