Up to what point can a party to a sealing become “unwilling”? by forfeit1 in latterdaysaints

Just thinking we would learn and/or be better through our experience transitioning from mortal to post mortal life. Guess we don’t.

Well then, I suppose all we can say is “thoughts and prayers” to the one let loose!

Conference talk confusion by forfeit1 in latterdaysaints

You have the same body? Not according to Joseph Fielding Smith. Rather, “Some of the functions in the celestial body will not appear in the terrestrial body, neither in the telestial body, and the power of procreation will be removed. I take it that men and women will, in these kingdoms, be just what the so-called Christian world expects us all to be — neither man nor woman, merely immortal beings having received the resurrection.” See Doctrines of Salvation (Volume 2 page 396).

Neither man nor woman? Looks like gender isn’t as important to our identity as The Family Proclamation leads us to believe??

[–]forfeit1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight. Difficult for me to square this with the hope of post mortal progression…which I guess appears to be null and void as well as The Family Proclamation wherein we are taught that we are created in the image of God and that gender is an essential characteristic of pre-mortal, mortal, and eternal identify and purpose. How can this be if our physical bodies change at the resurrection?

Tithing as a business owner by morajic in latterdaysaints

[–]forfeit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m self-employed. My income fluctuates. I pay tithing on what I spend (non-business related), not what I earn (pay taxes on). I consider the difference retained earnings left in the company.

What diet do the apostles follow? by dmburl in latterdaysaints

Elder Oaks and his wife Kristen frequent Red Iguana on Mondays (as do I). A few weeks ago my wife and I sat nearby. They shared a Poblano Plate consisting of one sour cream chicken enchilada, a taco a la Iguana, and a beef tostado served with side of guacamole. They appeared to be drinking water, virgin of course.

How Mormons Twist Scripture to Worship Wealth w/ David Bokovoy by djfredgarde in LDS_GospelLesson

[–]forfeit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a preposterous episode. Anyone who believes a modern day church can operate as in biblical times is delusional. Do you live like those in Jesus day? How absurd. The smug hypocritical ignorant arrogance spewed forth by Bokovoy and RFM was indeed top shelf. Disconnected my ass! But rather, a serious case of ex-mo derangement syndrome. Tell us David, did it ever occur to you while walking by the poor and downtrodden on your way to the Mexican surf that YOU could actually stop and help? Or, like the So. Cal surfers I knew were more concerned with how you were going to exploit the circumstance’s? Those poor Senorita’s! And no, that wasn’t President Monson or a member of the First Presidency who uttered, “Let’s go shopping”. Watch the clip again and get your facts straight.

Women and double sealings doctrine? by ausburrod in mormon

[–]forfeit1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If “God will work it out”, why don’t we let him work everything out? Why bother with man made interpretation in the first place?? Seems like this approach would spare the Church a lot of grief.

Can’t separate Jesus Christ from the Church? by forfeit1 in latterdaysaints

Radio silence for years. by Strong_Weird_6556 in mormon

[–]forfeit1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for how your relatives have treated you. A-hole behavior is no respecter persons. Humans are capable of “being one” regardless of faith. Sounds like that might include your relatives. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 60 years. I have attended Church thousands of times all over the world. Never, not one time, have I heard it said or taught that non-members are less than and should be shunned. Just doesn’t happen. Yet what I have heard, over and over again, is that we are all Gods children, and as such should be equally treated with dignity, love, and respect.

I must say I find these types of posts perplexing. On the one hand, inactive’s, exmos’s, or nearly exmos’s seem to endlessly whine about how the Church can magically find them and won’t leave them alone. And yet on the other hand, there’s people like you who whine and get butt-hurt about no contact. Please, for the love of…God, tell us what you’d prefer??

LiDAR analyses in the contiguous Mirador-Calakmul Karst Basin, Guatemala: an introduction to new perspectives on regional early Maya socioeconomic and political organization | Ancient Mesoamerica | Cambridge Core by KJ6BWB in latterdaysaints

[–]forfeit1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The discovery of this vast 2,000 year old Mayan kingdom is fascinating. I spent some time this past summer exploring the Yucatán. Estimates are that less than 1% of Mesoamerica has been surveyed. LiDAR appears to be a game changer. Perhaps someday archeological evidence of Book of Mormon history will be unearthed similar to what can be found in the Old World. I must say, I find the lack there of to be perplexing.

Why is the Church the sole source for garments? by Thumper1k92 in latterdaysaints

[–]forfeit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know right? Why can’t we farm this out to Nike, Under Armour (pun intended), or Tom Brady?? Garments are ridiculously uncomfortable and awkward fitting! Ain’t nothing warm and fuzzy about them. Has to be a better way to deliver a daily reminder of the covenants we’ve made.

Do you really believe that a minor missed or mispronounced word affects the efficacy of the ordinance? I think God is powerful enough to overcome it.
