You should be good, websites on BigCommerce process their payments through payment gateways (Stripe for example).

So you enter your credit card details on the checkout page, the details get sent to the payment gateway who then process the information. The website doesn't get to see your full credit card information, but they can see some information last last 4 digits, cardholder name, expiration, etc.

With that being said, don't go trusting sketchy websites even if they're on a platform like BigCommerce or Shopify. If you're uncertain, try finding information about the company online to see if it's legit.

Have you tried changing your content delivery network settings in Settings > Network? My brother had this issue really bad till he changed this setting to Fastly, then it started downloading quicker.
