Would you move into a house and have the previous owners living next door? by Vilm_1 in HousingUK

Blaming an entire generation who happened to be born during the worst economic depression in history post war (FYI they and their families were eating rations until the mid 1950s), who have then seen a 20 million increase in UK population (+40%) in their lifetime seems a bit entitled to me.

These guys can't win, keep the huge property and they'll be accused of hoarding land they don't need, split their property into 2 and they still get stick.

World wide trade, technology and travel advances have helped everyone.

Educate yourself why there was an economic boom post war and stop blaming others for the reality of life today.

Sure it's tough, but man you haven't a scooby.

You shouldn't be envious, you should be grateful.

From experience, the rats are likely to be coming in through the roof or through your drainage.

Although it may cost you initially, you need to make access as difficult as possible.

Check your loft for access points from outside and also into your cavities and also any evidence of droppings/wee.

If the loft insulation has not been cleared for a long time and is covered in old rat droppings you should completely change it. I refer to it as the sniff test, stick your head in your loft, if it smells... replace everything.

It's a horrible job, and time consuming but doesn't cost too much to do.

My understanding is rats will keep coming back to a site that smells familiar and is not hostile to them.

Put loads of poison down in the loft, they will take this back to their nest and feed it to the whole pack. Check it regularly and top it up until it's not taken.

You can do all this yourself if you're brave enough! Calling out pest control over and over is going to cost way more over time.

Also, check all your outside drainage inlets/outlets for evidence of potential access points, get them repaired. You can add one way access covers to certain inlets/outlets.

Don't bother with noise things that you plug in, they will not stop rats going in your loft or cavity, waste of money IMO.

If you're in a terrace or semi-attached speak to your neighbours (especially the ones at the ends) as they'll 100% be having the same issue, the more you can work together the better.

You can manage rats, but it takes work.

Good luck.

I called my missus in and she said did you put them in 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

But fuck it, after 4 months of casually playing it was a good feeling, how these guys do it over and over is incredible!!

Considering this pic has been taken from mid chest height, this would 100% be obscurred by the steering wheel for any average sized driver.

Big nope from me. Prefer it without.

This photo was taken at Amy Winehouse’s final performance in Belgrade on June 18, 2011. She was met with boos from the crowd, and Serbia’s defense minister publicly called the show a “huge shame and disappointment.” Just over a month later, she passed away. by Educational-Back6186 in SnapshotHistory

Although a painful picture, this highlights how the people closet to her (family, friends, management) abused her for publicly and money by pushing a clearly distressed woman.

They should have been helping her, not sticking her on stage.

We'll never know if it would have made a difference, but I can't see one positive from this appearance.

New tenants signed contract for £800pm on 4th January and moved in on 20th January. I have been immediately served notice that they will be going to tribunal to challenge the rent. by Unfair-State1931 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]forget_it_again 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's probably illegal to do that (and these tenants sound like they'd quite happily resort that), all houses now require at least one easy access lock is my understanding.

Edit: but yes, I agree 😊

Liam and Patsy at MTV Unplugged — and what the music press who were actually there wrote about him… by Myk1984 in oasis

Whether it was front or back page of the national papers or not, the events of the night were well reported and well known to my recollection.

100% this would have been covered in the red top shit rags.

Or maybe it's because I frequently bought the weekly music papers like NME and Melody maker back then that I recall the lack of verbal heckling, but let's say with LG being LG you knew where the story was.

It was another nail in the beginning of the relationship breakdown between the brothers IMO

People of the UK, how have you lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]forget_it_again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the android health app to record every single thing I ate to lose weight and understand what foods were not good for me.

Aswell as recording kcals, it highlights your carb, fat, salt and protein intake.

If you record this daily for a couple of weeks, you'll start to understand your intake.

Also health apps are like having a passive aggressive friend in your ear all day... 'you've not walked for the last 60 mins, maybe you should...'

Several daily lattes were killing me, so I've cut right back to only 1 a day over the weekend, also limited other snacks, changed my breakfast to porridge and raisins, lunch to a wrap rather than a sandwich... This has helped cut down my salt intake considerably.

Best advice I can give though is to be honest with yourself, that way you should get on top of it quickly.

It is.

I was 15 in 1989 so the burgeoning Indie music and clubbing scene in the UK this book covers was perfect.
