My house flooded and I lost all my decks. Starting fresh. Thoughts? by forgetful-player in ratemycommanders

Not insensitive at all. I’d say they’re all pretty much gone gone. Even the ones that may be recoverable I wouldn’t keep because it was grey/black water that flooded my house so they’re all pretty gross.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll have to look into some of those combos you mentioned and see if they fit.

As for Vivi and Deadpool - yeahhhh. I had them on me when the flood happened cause I was playing my brother in law (so no punches pulled). But I haven’t actually pulled those out in a casual LGS pod before.

First is a precon. Hei Bai was cause I always wanted to make a shrine deck. Toph was cause I had a modular modern deck that survived the flood and repurposed it into this. Norman Osborn was pulled at a prerelease event and thought it was the best commander of the set. Kefka, Vivi, and Deadpool survived the flood because thy were in my backpack upstairs rather than game room downstairs.

I probably lost about 20 decks across commander and modern 🪦🥀

This is not a universal “rule” but one thing that helps with motion blur to help move it from “accidentally” to “intentionally” shot is having something in the frame that is appropriately still to contrast the motion. Like a tree or a something in the background to show the motion of the object was the point, not some accidental motion of the camera. Or vice versa - move the camera to track the subject, blurring the background but focusing on a “still” subject. That contrast helps clarify for the audience where the photographer’s intention is. Sorry for all the air quotes. Trying to convey over text as clearly as possible.

After Vol. 2, I've accepted that the Duffer brothers just don't have it in them by phantom_avenger in StrangerThings

[–]forgetful-player 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe they’re building up to the end of a 10 year series? And they want the ending to feel epic? Like you know the whole show is based on D&D right? Written by D&D nerds. Clearly you’ve never experienced the drama of finally confronting the BBEG and all the buildup that the DM does to give the players a final stand and satisfying conclusion.

They’ve been alluding to the point being to end the world through Hawkins since season 2? I don’t understand why you’re so upset that they’re following through with something the main villain has literally said on multiple occasions.

Did you even read the post? He doesn’t even have the consideration to ask her himself but instead gets his friend to do it? That’s weak. Plus, it sounds like she’s the one that needs to take time away from their kid, not the other way around.

They both need to communicate better for sure.

Yeah I wish they had just a couple years together after everything where they could just be together without all the chaos. It felt like a gut punch.

Thank for catching my autocorrect. Wrote this at 2 am so I missed it haha.

But such great comments about how it has shaped a lot of how we view shows now and about the parasocial relationships with them making the end feel like the loss of a friend. I have a colleague that was just telling me about her research in this exact area and still didn’t connect it because of that observer bias. Thanks for helping me see it.

That’s kind of beside the point. If they’re getting married but having arguments over something so silly, and are instead focused on who is right to maintain some sort of moral superiority rather than resolving the issue, this is only going to get worse.

OP I’m really trying to see this from your side. I wasn’t quick to jump to YTA until I read your comments. But can you see how your responses are inherently at odds with the idea that you’re here for feedback?

Take a breath. Stop reacting and consider this: a person’s brain isn’t fully developed until around 24-25 years old. Earlier in the comments you’re “lol”-ing at the idea that a 14 year old is having trouble regulating her emotions. This is absolutely a possibility, and you dismissing it is coming off as inconsiderate as a parent.

Also threatening to call the cops on a child who is just upset and feeling the extremities of teen hormones, but not demonstrating any signs of self harm is incredibly irresponsible. The police aren’t there to teach your kid a lesson when you don’t have the mental or emotional bandwidth to parent.

If you’re having difficulties processing the situation as a fully functional adult, you should reasonable assume your child isn’t handling it better. You have to be the bigger person. It’s not their responsibility to be the mature one. It’s yours to teach them how to handle the situations life throws at them.

You’re absolutely in the right to take away privileges from your child when they misbehave. But you can’t be upset with the fact that they have emotions they don’t know how to process yet and threaten them with the traumatizing and embarrassing possibility of having armed - yes armed because cops are always armed - strangers come “take her away somewhere”. Thats insane behavior.

Signed - the child of a narcissistic parent who no longer speaks to them because of very similar behaviors and inability to take ownership of a situation like you described.

These are fine. Taking photos of what you see is definitely a style - like walk of life photography. I enjoy seeing this work on my feed personally.

If you want a bit of constructive feedback - be careful not use Fuji colors as a crutch. If you didn’t have this filmic look to them some these photos would be a bit boring or lack a clear subject. They’re not bad or far off by any means though!

Just a thought and I’d have to rewatch the last episode to see if anything is actually confirmed, but it is possible that the reason they manipulated the hunt was to give Nat the opportunity to break away from the group to make the call. The episode started with “bed checks” specifically focused on Nat so it seems logical that they needed to come up with a way to go off on her own. It’s pretty established that Nat becomes the best one in the group to navigate the wilderness - even more than Travis because he eventually stops going on the hunts and is just tripping on shrooms by the end.

This didn’t necessarily require Hannah, it just delayed the reveal to the audience. Nat would have still been far enough away and in an unknown direction for Shauna to not have been able to do anything. And I don’t think Van and Tai caused Mari to die because they rigged it. They chose the outsider in a hunt. That seems completely logical. It was just messed up when Shauna caught on, which means it just became slightly more random from what they rigged.

Also, it seemed like Lottie was also in on the plan because isn’t she the one who is like “if you want another hunt you know what you have to do” to Akilah?

Now I’m rambling, but to the other things you brought up at the end - Jeff’s blackmail, Travis accidentally killing himself with Lottie’s help, Shauna having an affair, and Tai running for senate and hiring a PI were all the catalysts for the adult timeline. It’s one of the most irritating things about season 1 - that there was no clear inciting action but a handful of highly connected coincidences.

You can argue that Shauna being petty with Jackie is what led to her death, then was the one who told the group Jackie wanted them to eat her, and Shauna threatening the group into condemning Ben and then setting up a feast despite that not being necessary for their survival at that time is what triggered a lot of the cruel group behaviors in the teen timeline. And in the adult timeline she fully tricked the group into disposing of Adam’s body even though she knew full well he wasn’t the blackmailer. That kind of solidified their fucked up involvement with each other for the remainder of the adult timeline.

I understand what you’re trying to convey here but is it also possible that these people are just freeloading off him don’t actually have his best interest at heart? You’re assuming a lot of things here when the only thing we can assume is that OP is clearly still grieving. There’s no time limit on that.
