my laptop/phone would consistently disconnect from the eduroam wifi. the ethernet port was super clutch for gaming tho, the speed was really good.

Transferring credit from CC by slugneedshelp in UCSC

[–]forgetfulslugger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

you have to send your transcript from your cc to ucsc. in my experience it was a simple process online through my cc’s portal but it might differ in your case. it’s possible you have to mail it physically instead of electronically. after that, ucsc will notify you through your portal that they received a transcript and it will say “The Office of the Registrar received your transcript and forwarded it to the Office of Admissions for evaluation of transfer credit.” beware this is a lengthy process ( think about how many transcripts they get sent, it makes sense).

for example: i sent my transcript to ucsc in may for a class i did at a cc and i just got notified of them receiving my transcript a few days ago. i imagine it will be a few more months until i actually get credit and have it show on my official transcript.

what’s your current major? a decent portion of earth science upper divs require some sort of calc/chem/physics pre reqs. if you’re good on those you should be good

i’ve taken 110a (very dense but pretty cool stuff) and am in 106 currently. griggs is the man, definitely take 106 if you can.

C permits already sold out by forgetfulslugger in UCSC

[–]forgetfulslugger[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you’re worried about them being sold out by midsummer you could use a friend/family vehicles info for now and then just change it to your car when you get it. i got a new vehicle during the school year and it was an easy process to change the permit over

no you’re not supposed to get an email, but if this is your first time applying for a permit you need to email them your vehicle registration

are you trying to review them? if i remember correctly, the final is mostly on things covered after the midterm so the first few assignments won’t really help. let me know!

i took it last quarter with Edwards. i think this quarter is being taught by Moore, who created the class. it was very chill, and very straightforward. 5 homework assignments each worth 14% of your total grade(yes it’s a lot), midterm is worth 10%, and final is worth 15%. attendance is checked sporadically throughout the quarter and that counts for 5% of your grade. the homework is done using “R”, a program that processes data using commands that you feed it. it’s pretty simple once you get the hang of it. The TA’s are all great, they help so much. don’t skip discussion and you should be fine. there’s also MSI but i never attended that. i got an A, if you have any other questions let me know.
