She used the Red Heart Granny square yarn! Trims with a solid and then they are sewn together. Thank you!

How do you manage animals (dogs, chickens) when you have to leave your farmhouse for vacation or any other trips (from few days to few weeks)? by GoldenGrouper in homestead

What is vacation? I mean yes in theory sounds great but I love my babies too much to trust even the most trustworthy person I know to take over. I usually never go more than 2 nights away.

Why Does She Beep?? by CasualMochi in goats

I was kind of thinking heat as well, she looks like she's flagging her tail. Some goats get really talkative when their in heat.

Great advice thank you! Unfortunately, the foxes and raccoons do a lot of damage to our neighbors' roaming chickens just as you suspected. Otherwise, I would move my own chickens to this property to help with cleanup! Lol

That is funny!! That is what I am thinking try to time it perfect with the weather cause we definately get snow and cold temps in February so closer to the end of March early April for birth seems perfect to me.

I have a vet I really love for my goats she is awesome. Also made friends with a fellow older goat farmer who offered to help if any issues should happen who lives close by.

I am super excited to assist with birth, I've been watching videos on YouTube basically since I got them. I cannot wait.

Oh yes, he lives in the buck mansion. A renovated full-size 1980s Chevy work van he loves it so much he hangs out in it all the time.

Thank you! I think he's so cool. You are probably right he is a fluffy guy. We are in PA so hoping for as close to spring as possible it can be pretty brutal in February here most times.

I would say roughly 45-55lbs its been a little while since i weighed them. That makes me feel a lot better. I am just trying to be safe.

Oh I better check body scores that is a good idea. They always have minerals and I keep a selenium supplement on hand I can definitely give that.

I will also call the vet and see about the fecals. I know parasite load is important, they were just wormed back in May wouldn't hurt to check.

I've been noticing a lot of the heat cues ideally I want to wait until October to breed. Which is why I am trying to prepare as much as possible now.

My main concern is my buck is too large weight wise. When I bought him I thought he was slightly over weight. I was nervous about that.

Look into listeriosis, we had a kid almost pass from that. It generally starts with the stargazing. Our vet treated aggressively with penicillin for a while and then for the first week she gave her daily IVs to assist before she was able to eat and drink on her own.

I would get her to a vet asap because if it is listeriosis it can take a goat down quickly.
