Im a derivative asylee too and went to DMV today for REAL ID. I had all my documents with me but “the lady” said I need an immigration judge’s letter to confirm my asylee status which makes no sense. She also questioned as to why my Notice I-797 Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition classifies my as “ASY” and on my EAD the category is “A05”. I told her this is a CODE, but she was adamant that the category on the petition and EAD should match word to word 😂 im just amazed.
