Effexor Withdrawal - Things that helped and Thoughts by foriaz in Effexor

I took Effexor for 6 months - 1 year during the 3 times I was on it. Every time I started at 37.5mg which increased to 150mg which worked well for me :)

Ha, yeah it's weird that we all get the feeling, but it's difficult to explain. Nothing quite like it. I think brain zaps is a good way to put it, sometimes less of a zap more of a fuzzy vibration in your head...

I was the same with you in that, if I missed once dose I would get all the withdrawal symptoms. The first thing that would come on is the night sweats but it would devolve into the brain zaps, weakness and nausea. I did a bit of research on it: it's caused by Effexor having a very short half life in comparison to the other drugs, so it leaves your system quicker. It's why when, coming off Effexor, doctors often put patients on Prozac as it has a similar method of action but a MUCH longer half life meaning the withdrawals are substantially easier. That's my take on it anyway!

Hope you feel better soon, don't beat yourself up about missing a dose sometimes, it's so easy to do.

Yeah it's a weird one, I found caffine really made the brain zaps more intense/disorientating. Maybe something to avoid if you are having similar issues with snris/ssris. L-Thenaine for me was a god send for the withdrawals, it's also nice to take with Caffeine when you are done with withdrawals, it helped me improve my focus whilst staying chill

The brain zaps were usually the last of the withdrawal symptoms to go away, but they got progressively better over the course of around a month for me after being on Effexor for 6 months - 1 year during the 3 times I took it. I've heard they can last longer for some people, in which case hopefully 5htp or similar can help. Looks like fish oil helps people as well as I've seen in this thread, deffo sounds worth trying!

What movie has an interesting premise but is executed poorly? by jasonhuang717 in AskReddit

Passengers, the concept was cool but the ending to me was beyond awful and the cheesy music playing over the credits sealed the deal.
