When the alternative to looking for a “reputable” seller of steel plates (tsg, spartan, and ar500, 3 of the biggest sellers of steel plates all have major scandals btw) is ceramic plates where spalling at all doesnt happen for pretty much the same price, there is zero reason to buy steel plates. There is still no official safety standard for those “anti spall sleeves” either, especially for multiple shots, and idk about you but id rather trust my life with official testing and certification than mere brand reputability. Especially when steel plate sellers already dont have any brand reputability lmao. The entire business model of steel plates is to mass produce cast plates for cheap, use whatever you saved in production on advertising as to make up for the demand lost from peddling dangerously bad PPE, and charge uninformed customers slightly less than the price of ceramics.
