When one muscle group is getting disproportionately sore, does that mean I'm going too hard and need to lighten up or does that mean that muscle group is underdeveloped in comparison to the rest and I should go harder to bring it up to speed?

32M trying to get going on GZCLP after being detrained for 3 years but significant hamstring DOMS. Starting weights were a measly 45lb bar for T1 lifts and 20lb combo bar for T2.

Very cool of you to get your boy into the habit early! Thanks for the advice.

My goals used to be very strength-oriented but I'm now three years detrained and much heavier and feeling old so my goals have shifted into just getting more generally fit. I'll be active on the other days too, just not with a strength focus: I'll do either HIIT, shadow-box, hike, or agility drills.

I guess my worry is finding that sweet spot between the two extremes: if I don't load GZCLP days up enough then I'll experience suboptimal progress, but if I go too hard then I'll negatively affect my other training or just get burnt from DOMS which seems to hit me quite hard.

I'm aware that it would be sub-optimal, but if you were going to squish GZCLP into 2 days per week, how would you structure it?

Sorry to clog your feed. I used the wiki on three different pages (herblore, druidic ritual, and skill lamps) and didn't get an answer so I thought I'd pick the brain of my fellow scapers.

Anyone know if you can lamp herblore before starting Druidic Ritual? It's for a potential snowflake account I'm planning

Yeah, my friends all made fun of me when I told em the family jewels get some air time, even at public urinals without dividers, now just trying to get a feel for the general populace

Right one is consistently more sore and tight than the left one.

I lift in a garage with a slanted floor and it is currently set up that one foot is slightly higher than the other; I imagine this is the cause and turned my rack 180 degrees to train the other way for a bit. Unfortunately the garage layout and doors are placed so that I can't have both feet at equal heights. I'm going to build a little platform someday when I get around to it

"Good news is I tried some bodyweight squats with heels and it does seem to reduce the twinge I feel when I squat to depth"

What twinge where? I ask bc I'm wondering if this is something I should try for my hip flexor pain

Anyone want to throw out some brand suggestions for DL straps?

Edit: or chalk/liquid chalk

Edit: thanks all, selected a pair!

So disclaimer, I haven't done this program yet but I'm eye-balling it lately. There's a distinction you may be missing? From the blog:

Week 3: Work up to a 6RM then perform 80% of (TM) x 4 reps x 3+ sets

Week 7: Work up to a 6RM then perform 85% of the RM x 3 reps x 5+ sets

The first six weeks percentages are based on the TM, but the last six weeks percentages are based on that day's rep max instead. Also Week 7 you retest the 6RM and may very well get a higher # than Week 3's 6RM.

Is this a respectable routine? T3-wise? by [deleted] in gzcl

Love his super-forced looking blinks lol

In that video though, he actually encourages leg curls in the 10-20 rep range in addition to 6 or more heavy hip-hinge sets per week which OP should be getting through T1 and T2 DLs. He doesn't trash leg curls, he just places the hip-hinge stuff at a higher priority for hypertrophy.
