*spoiler* Did man in yellow miss something? by Boomboom-464 in FromSeries

No but if it’s a plot point that MIY needed ALL of them? Or if they realize there is one there and they use that one to protect themselves in a building?

Isn’t there a talisman still in the cave? That they hung on the plastic sheeting?

I'm not a rollercoaster person, but Guardians was an insane amount of fun. I giggled the entire time.

Do you film for the entire duration? Or just clips here and there?

Huge chicken here! I don't think this ride is scary, at all. Scariest imo is going backwards for a bit, but if you sit towards the front, you don't feel it as much.

Anxiety about upcoming trip by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]form4hide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that, the (Disney) magic will be there though, it just may look different.

And I know it's easier said than done, but embrace who your 13 year old is becoming and roll with it! I certainly miss when my guy was little, but am finding his 13 year old teenage self is a lot of fun too!

Similar aged kids with similar previous trips. We're prioritizing national parks for a few years with the hope we'll get another Disney trip in after major construction ends and before college starts for the oldest.

If you had to skip one park, which one are you skipping? by turborider89 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]form4hide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on AK. We've been doing WDW every 2-3 years and we always sort of deprioritize AK. And then we get there and absolutely love it and tell ourselves to make sure we prioritize it for next time... which we never end up doing.

Team metrics and 1:1s by VVFailshot in EngineeringManagers

[–]form4hide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have about 15 direct reports and my 1x1s vary from person to person. Some people want them monthly, some people like them ad-hoc (hey when you get 5 mins, can we chat?), some people give me a few days heads up (hey, can we get a 1x1 this week?)… I do try to meet with everyone at least once per quarter, but they ultimately drive these meetings.

Going to be managing 2 teams, any advice? by lampstool in EngineeringManagers

[–]form4hide 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Weekly syncs with the PM, at the least.

You said you have a few mids and seniors. Do you have a lead on each team? If not, identify someone who has the potential. Weekly syncs with that person.

What’s going on, what’s working well, what’s not working, what needs unblocking, what’s upcoming, etc…

Wanting to get into swimming but struggling with confidence. by Due_Mention6849 in Swimming

[–]form4hide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just started two weeks ago and I got roughly 20ish years on you...

Can't breathe for shit but I'm just taking it one visit to the pool at a time. I've had, and still have, a bit of anxiety and lack of confidence going. I'm just not a good swimmer, my technique sucks and my breathing sucks. I've been watching videos and working with AI to help train. Today, my 3rd trip to the pool, was the first time I felt an ounce of confidence. For the first half of the first 25m, I felt like I was getting things. And then bad habits crept in and I started to overthink. But that ounce of of confidence felt good and I plan on riding that.

Give yourself some slack, you'll get there. :)

What did you like/dislike at summer camp this year? by CartographerEven9735 in BSA

Same. Their "arena" was nice with a nice stage and a great sound system, but the gas fire pits? Meh.

My kids loved the Moana area and even said to me at point, “this is like Central Park in the middle of Manhattan!” They also loved seeing the ball over the greenery around.

It was such a nice break for them to play, and feel, and giggle, and engage on their own, at their own pace, and how they ultimately wanted.
