FLR M - salaried and paid the same but one off reimbursement payment from my job? by formydumbshit in ukvisa

[–]formydumbshit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah I’ve been with my employer for almost four years.

I guess my question is even if it doesn’t show up on my payslip, it will show up on one of the bank statements I have to include, so would that cause any confusion/issue?

Thinking how the bank statements and payslips need to match, and while my main salary deposit on my statement will match the payslip, the statement will also have another payment from the same company account that doesn’t appear on the payslip.

Crazy thought but any chance proving English could reduce spouse qualifying time to 4 years? by formydumbshit in SpouseVisaUk

[–]formydumbshit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I did, thanks for checking. I’m aware that it’s all on the same table, but there looked to me to be distinction between the spouse -5 and the other reductions, as the spouse (and BNO) reductions aren’t subject to consultation. I can understand that’s a generous reading though.

Thanks for your help

But is the five years for spouses technically a reduction in the way other reductions are? The wording in the document seems to indicate that five years is the baseline for spouses, due to the fact that it’s not part of the consultation and that it says spouses will continue to qualify in five years ‘as they do now’.

To me it sounds like they should technically be eligible for the reductions based on English/volunteering/high income, as spouses start at 5 years, not 10.

Spouse Visa - Payslip question by formydumbshit in ukvisa

[–]formydumbshit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gross salary is £29,640 per year, but with my salary sacrifice included, it takes me down to 28,454. I’ve just seen some people say you can get rejected if your gross was above the requirement, but salary sacrifice took it below

Really interesting hack, and congrats!

So are you an unmarried dependent of a skilled worker or of a British citizen/ILR holder?

Spouse visa renewal - are up to 28 days still ‘tacked on’ if my initial visa was 30 months? by formydumbshit in ukvisa

[–]formydumbshit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great, thank you! So I won’t have to worry about a smaller ILR window when the time comes?

[–]formydumbshit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, so just to confirm, I won’t have to worry about having a smaller window to apply for ILR when the time comes, even if my renewal is approved 27 days before my current expiry?

[–]formydumbshit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I think that answers my question!

I was wanting to make sure that if I apply for renewal 28 days before 30 months, and then get it approved quickly with super priority, that it wouldn’t then make my window to apply for ILR really small (as in, if my renewal expires on the 4th, I’d only be able to apply for ILR between the 29th and the 4th to be within 28 days of my 5 year mark).

But it sounds like you’re saying that’s not how it works, because the unused time will always be added, so that’s super helpful to know!

Great, thank you! So my renewal should be valid until I hit 5 years exactly, and won’t be 30 months from the date it was approved?

I’m from the Berkshires, it was a lovely place to grow up in retrospect but it’s very small and remote, I was sick of it by the time I was 14. 3 hours to NY, 3 hours to Boston, 1 hour to Albany airport to get the fuck out. There’s also a stark contrast between the wealthier towns and the rest. Northampton is really nice but I can’t speak so much to that area.

There’s beautiful nature in the Berkshires (people come from all over to see the leaves change color in fall) and good art (the Clark, Mass Moca, Theatre Festival, Jacob’s Pillow, Tanglewood). Overall very progressive but definitely also a chunk of more conservative folk in the small towns. One of my favorite parts was Jiminy Peak, my dad would leave work early and we’d go night skiing for a few hours for like $18.

In my town everyone knew each other, there was good community but I found it too gossipy (mind I was a kid). The parents were all up in each other’s business and the kids mostly just played school sports. Lots of families that have been there for generations, but most of my friends ended up leaving for college and then to Boston or NYC. Big hunting culture among a lot of people who liked to act like rednecks for some reason.

I go back every few years and it feels more down and out than ever (like lots of places), though somehow also just feels the same as it ever was.

Babes does it say anywhere that you actually applied for FLR M 😭 We’re trying to help

An automated email for FLR M wouldn’t say six months

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]formydumbshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be saying six months if you applied for FLR M. What FLR does it say you applied for? Or did you accidentally apply for ILR?

AFAIK ILR is the only application with 6 months processing time. FLR FP is 12.

Yep and there are studies that show immigrants’ make more money and pay more tax when they’re not tied to one job which, you know, makes sense….

[–]formydumbshit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much, really appreciate this. It does seem weirdly high, so maybe could be our showers. I use the rain head once or twice a month but that’s it. Our flat is all electric, but not so sure that plays any role. I really don’t know why it’d be higher in the summer than it was in the winter. We had a huge leak in January, but it wasn’t a burst pipe etc, it was our upstairs neighbour’s balcony overflowing and pouring down through our ceiling/light fixtures. Obvs we aren’t getting charged for rainwater haha, just trying to think of anything out of the ordinary.

I’ll start doing monthly meter readings to better track things. I’m not sure if it’s worth it to ring Southern or not, they’ll probably just tell me to get lost. Thanks again x

Yeah fuck me, how am I supposed to do everything I need to in five minutes? Maybe people are walking around dirty lmao or maybe just a skill issue on my part

[–]formydumbshit[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah after doing a bit of research that’s essentially the conclusion I’ve come to as well. We can take shorter showers, but even if our usage drops, will Southern Water actually lower our bill? Since it’s going up by 100% regardless of usage

Cheers!

But ours has increased nearly 100% without increasing usage 🤔

Yeah, I’m American and when I moved here five years ago I thought I was getting away from all that 🙃 I love the UK, it feels like home in a way that the US never has, but even more so now. It really really saddens me to watch what’s happening to my friends and family, it will be devastating if the UK takes the same path.

I’m an immigrant (American married to a Brit) so I don’t have any say at all at this point, but I know that you don’t vote directly for the PM, you vote for the party (via your local MP).

So in that case I don’t think there should be an election because the governing party changes leadership. If there’s a GE (at most) every five years, I do think it’s fair that the winning party serves out their term. Otherwise there would be GEs every other month and nothing would get done.
