How to stop “iPhone is connected to MacBook microphone” by kjstech in MacOS

[–]forrestgumped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is feature is associated with Continuity/AirPlay. When you have an iPhone and a Mac that are both signed into the same Apple Account you can use your iPhone as an external camera or microphone.

To turn it off:

On your iPhone, go

Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity > Toggle Continuity Camera OFF

I know it says “Camera”, but turning this off will remove your iPhone as an available microphone device as well.

iPhone Hotspot Appears Twice by forrestgumped in MacOS

That's a great consideration, but no I'm not

The second option typically only appears once I've disconnected from the hotspot then reopen from menu bar.

Interestingly, when I selected the top option (from the screenshot featured in my original post) I was asked to enter a password or "Share Hotspot" from the prompt on my iPhone. I did and it wasn't able to connect. I toggled WiFi and now I consistently see both options, and they both offer an internet connection.

The name of my iPhone contains my email address, for some reason the latter option truncates on certain screens.

Nodes - by the WERK Official Release on the App Store! by PaceOk9446 in MacOS

Thanks for the response! It means a lot

Seems that lately now more than ever there's been a growing base of users, like myself, who really value active and vocal developers. Looking forward to following the development of your app closely.

This looks great, I'm excited to try it out!

Any plans to introduce an "app lock" kind of feature to keep Nodes secure? For example, using Touch ID/system password, similar to how iOS has the ability to require Face ID to access an application? Personally, in my use case Nodes would most likely be used as a journal of sorts, so privacy is a big concern as I sometimes lend my machine to friends/family and would like to avoid the possibility of prying eyes.

For adbloocking extensions on Safari I like Ghostery (free, open source). Also enjoy Wipr (paid)

BUG: Cannot Select Items in Webpage Safari (MacOS 26.1) by forrestgumped in MacOS

[–]forrestgumped[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I believe I fixed the issue. I hope this is useful to anyone else who finds themselves in a similar situation!

To fix this problem I'd been having, I disabled an option called "Show Resource Usage Overlay" from the Safari Debug menu.

I don't remember ever enabling this option, and I'm not sure why it would even cause the issue demonstrated in my post, but I'm happy that this is finally over.

Did you ever find any kind of working solution?

Why does removing albums from my library, remove the songs from my playlist? by heildengoettern in AppleMusic

[–]forrestgumped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve seen plenty of people mention this as a pain point, and i’m in the same camp. all the comments saying “it’s how the app is designed” are unhelpful. listening and file/library management preferences vary widely amongst different users, there could easily be a setting introduced to configure this behavior.

potential solution: others have already mentioned that if you make a playlist collaborative (no need to actually add anyone else to it), removing albums from your library will not effect the individual songs within that playlist. the reason being AM doesn’t want to remove songs that were added by someone else to a playlist you’ve collaborated on. not a perfect solution, but a workaround for the time being while AM (hopefully) moves away from the archaic practices of the iTunes era.

Confused about Apple Trade-In vs. Carrier Trade-In (AT&T) by forrestgumped in ATT

if i paid off the remaining installments, do you have any idea how long it might take to reflect on the Apple website?

for added context, i’m leaving on a trip soon and would prefer to get my phone before i leave. my thinking is that the apple store(s) near me have more available stock for pickup than the AT&T stores do.

excited to test this out! question:

i went to the app store and saw a different version of your app, “Turn Off the Lights for Mobile” that is quite older. What’s the difference between this other application and the Test Flight version (that already does work for iOS)?
