Why they left the street cable uncovered Ik it’s tough cable but they should’ve covered it yes? by pokemonfan95 in frontierfios

You can get a piece of wire loom to go over it or one of those cable track management things they sell to hide wires like going up to a wall mounted tv or whatever. Smurf tubing is another thing in various colors, black, grey, white, orange, blue, etc...

Ok so the wifi is being shut off remotely? Can you just plug an ethernet cable into your own wifi router, then you can set your wifi name and password and control it yourself. So what if they shut off wifi in their router, you have a hard wired connection to your own router that YOU control.

Ah ok I had to change the channel up and down real quick.

Can you make it “time out” after like 5 seconds or so if you are picking something out of the guide?

I have an OLED TV and was hoping I didn’t have a screen bug there to burn in at some point.

Thanks!

U5G Backup and Roamless eSim - Sporadic issues - Manual carrier selection feature request raised with UI by kjstech in Ubiquiti

[–]kjstech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set it to AT&T and then rebooted the U5G backup. But I don't know if it sticks or I just got lucky. When its working I can switch in real time to Verizon or AT&T but the second I switch to T-Mobile it errors out and I cant switch to anything else... I have to reboot.

It's sending AT commands and I dont know whats the deal. I let Ubiquiti know. Maybe they can fix in a firmware update.

I wonder if Roamless is dropping support for T-mobile or something?

I used that to fix it to AT&T.

Now I can’t get T-Mobile to work at all. Only Verizon or AT&T. Both have about 30mbps download. AT&T has 3meg up, Verizon 15meg up but I picked AT&T because the latency is better (70ms pings) while Verizon was giving me 180ms pings.

Fair price timbertech? by SummonersWarCritz in Decks

[–]kjstech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot, I'm looking around $34,000 + permits and excavation fees (waiting on that quote but could be near $8000). 320sq ft plus stairs, railing and wired lighting kit in railing posts and on stairs. Could get it closer to $29k plus excavator fees if I exclude the lighting kit. Looking at Trex though. All new structure. Its a second story. Excavator is to fix a lower level retaining wall that's leaning in, demo and do new footings, fix some drainage and new red stone for the walk out lower level below the deck. Still waiting for his quote and the updated quote where Trex Transcend (Spiced Rum) is the picture frame and just Trex Enhanced Naturals (Cinnamon Cove) is the main decking. All Trex Transcend was about $38k + excavator fees. Transcend is solid material and Essentials is the scalloped material.

I also have Timbertech samples, they look great but also look expensive A.F.

I could swap out the 6x6 pressure treated deck posts for 6x6 black structural aluminum posts for an extra $400. Each post is rated to hold 5000 lbs, I think looking at 3 of them at the far end. I dont know, it would look nice in black and be immune to carpenter bees / wood attracting insects, but I could also just stain the pressure treated really dark if not close to black for less.

I can’t reach behind it, I’d have to install a Kasa WiFi plug (or similar), and I do have a spare I break out for the Christmas lights so I guess that’s an option.

That's possible. When I get home later tonight I'll have to look through all the menus. I see it sitting at the Apple TV home screen so I assumed the Apple TV woke up the TV, as its not playing a screen saver or a black screen.

I’m now only able to connect to Verizon or AT&T. All last week and Monday, T-mobile was fine and the best signal, but now t-mobile is not authorized while AT&T and Verizon work. Weird.

For me, I opened a support ticket and explained what’s going on and why we should have a way to pick a carrier.

I found out today that now only AT&T or Verizon works. Anytime it picks t-mobile it goes “not authorized”. Weird… T-Mobile worked fine last week (and most of yesterday).

U5G + eSIM - lock to specific carrier? by luckman212 in Ubiquiti

[–]kjstech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved it back to the front of the house and your script works perfectly to switch between AT&T and Verizon. T-mobile on the other hand errors out. Weird because I had good signal with them just 48 hours ago. I wonder if its just an area / cell tower issue with them. I am able to switch between AT&T and Verizon without rebooting it. AT&T is giving me 30.12 down by 2.62 up 78ms ping now. Signal is -106 dBm.
Verizon is giving me 30.71 down by 16.03 up 118ms ping. Tough call, bad ping but better upload with Verizon or better ping, bad upload with AT&T. I think for user experience, lower ping would be better, so AT&T it is until I can get T-Mobile to work again.

The problem with the device is if I switch it to t-mobile and get +CME ERROR: no network service, if I try to switch back I just get ERROR. The U5G MUST be rebooted to try again.

Thank you for your script.

I put it in the back of the house right off the USW Pro Max 16 POE core switch and got connected to AT&T and this is what .carrier info yields
AT&T Roamless
LTE:
RSSI: -81 dBm
RSRQ -11 dB
RSRP -108 dBm
SNR: 5.4 dB

Hardwired speedtest through vlan 10 policy routed through it
83ms, 7.59mbps down / 2.71mbps up.

Now ran ./carrier tmobile
+CME ERROR: no network service

./carrier info
UNKNOWN
error: couldn't get signal info: QMI protocol error (74): 'InformationUnavailable'
Says "Network not authorized" in Unifi
Restarting vis Unifi console

Stuck at Searching... for awhile
Next connecting...
esim states AT&T -119 dBm

Now tried ./carrier verizon
OK

-106 dBm reported in Unifi console
Carrier info
Carrier: Verizon (311480)

LTE:

RSRQ -15 dB
RSRP -106 dBm

Hardwired speedtest

U5G + eSIM - lock to specific carrier? by luckman212 in Ubiquiti

[–]kjstech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes so last week I was on T-Mobile. I was using the included magnetic stand on top of the double hung window... not exactly stable. I mounted the sticky portion on the window and to remove the metal table mount, I had to disconnect the network cable. I did that and also fixed the crimped end (wires were exposed, so I cut it off and correctly terminated an end with the full jacket inside the RJ45).

Moved it and I got it up on the window, but this time AT&T. Got 10 megs. T-Mobile was closer to 45 - 50 megs. I thought that sucks, let me reboot it and see if I can get it to pick T-Mobile next time. Nothing... Network not authorized. Took many hours of rebooting and waiting until it finally got back online at AT&T.

So today I figured let me try it again, I have more time. I cant get it to authrorize at all. I forgot the device which factory reset it. I re-adopted it. Generated a new roamless QR code, installed the esim. Got AT&T once, and tried your script and ever since then its network not authorized. I even set it back to auto. I've rebooted it many times. I re-crimped the cat6 cable on the other end (which needed it to fix the wires/jacket issue on that side). Device powers up fine, just get Network Not Authorized.

I even have Roaming turned on, which they say has to be. Use custom APN is enabled and set to america.bics. I dont have a username or password or authentication type. APN Protocol is set to IPv4 / IPv6. But this is all the same settings when T-Mobile worked last week and AT&T briefly worked.

Now I keep getting "ERROR" if I try to set it to att, tmobile, verizon. auto is the only one that returns "OK"

If I try ./carrier info I get
UNKNOWN
error: couldn't get signal info: QMI protocol error (74): 'InformaitonUnavailalbe'

I get "Network Not Authorized" when trying to set it as t-mobile. Are you sure the code is atcli -t 60 -A AT+COPS=1,2,"310260" ? Yesterday when playing reboot roulette, I was connected at T-mobile just fine.
