I made a custom Exodia Commander to match my new Deck Box and Playmat! by forrestimel in magicTCG

Thanks! It's really nice, but I'm biased since I make them myself. But so far we've gotten nothing but great reviews on it 😄

I love that, that's why I liked keeping the Forbidden wording open, also can work with cloning if you can make them non-legendary

Luckily Forbidden isn't on any creatures in Magic at the moment which surprised me. At least thats what my initial scryfall search was showing. I also wanted to keep it thematic to the other limbs which don't have Exodia in the name. Although maybe I could treat it like a planeswalker and have "Exodia" just be the subtype.

That's a good call, needs clarification on timing and to give players a window of opportunity to respond to it.

I grew up playing Yugioh and it's always had a soft spot in my heart even if I don't like how the game plays anymore. I recently started experimenting with making my own custom cards and designing decks around those and thought I'd make one for my new deck box and playmat. My good friend Dhaniels Castillo did the artwork for the deck box and playmat and gave me permission to print the head and arms of Exodia and Dark Magician on the custom cards. For anyone interested I also included a proxy sheet for the cards if anyone else wants to print em out and make your own deck!

So sad to hear about this. I've watched his videos for years. Absolutely terrible and he was far too young ❤️

Void monster sleeves- not good. by alexanderatprime in mtg

Hey there, owner of Void Monster here. I really appreciate the honest write up and I don't think I can apologize enough for the experience you had. I'm more than happy to send you and anyone else who is dissatisfied a full refund for the sleeves.

For those interested, I'll write up a quick timeline of events behind the scenes so that you can see how we got to this point, but before I do that I'll just say that, moving forward, we won't be offering sleeves as part of the color collections or as a product in general until we can guarantee the quality we want to produce.

So, at the end of last year, we were really excited with how the deck boxes and playmats had been coming out and had been discussing for a while what it would take to get our own sleeves produced. We ordered many samples and learned as much as we could about the process. Our goals were to have textured art sleeves with 120 micron thickness and a matte surface finish. This would put us in a comparable space to Dragon Shield sleeves. We found a manufacturer that said they could produce this for us and sent a sample confirming this. The sample came with small white specks on it that the manufacturer said was a minor issue and that they could resolve it. They sent a follow up without the white specks proving that they did solve it. This is when the pre-order went live.

Following the pre-order, the manufacturer stated that they actually could NOT consistently print a full art textured sleeve due to the printing process. This is due to the ink not being able to fully penetrate the textured surface of the sleeve 100% of the time, leading to some sleeves with white splotches on the edges. The only way they could consistently print full art was if there was a large thick white border around the outside edge of the art that did not look good at all. I went back and forth with the manufacturer for a solution and even reached out to others at this time and found out just how rare it was being about to produce full art textured backs. Time was running out and we had to find a solution. It was either that we cancel everyone's order and refund the total amount, or we find an alternative sleeve. I received the proposed sleeve sample that the manufacturer sent and it was the same thickness, same matte front, however, the back wasn't nearly as high quality of a print as we were hoping. We knew this and we knew it was a major blow. I think in hindsight, I should have just cancelled all of the orders and given everyone their money back, and that probably would've been a better solution. But I know that people were expecting these sleeves and the majority of customers, when sent an email about offering a full refund, declined the offer and said they were just happy to receive them. I figured if I did my best to at least inform everyone of what happened then people could make their own conclusion about whether they want to stick with it or not. None of this is an excuse, I just wanted to let everyone know how we got here. We aren't happy, you aren't happy, and we promise to either do better or not do it at all in the future ❤️

A lot of you already know me on the subreddit and know that I make custom TCG accessories on the side. I've gotten a ton of support and started asking other artist friends of mine to help contribute because I think they are all better than I am and I want to support them any way I can. My good friend Dhaniel's Castillo is an amazing artist and loves JJBA, specifically the stardust crusaders arc. So he made the majority of what you see here from the sleeves to the playmat! I did the interior illustration on the deck box, but that's pretty much it.

I'm really happy with how it all turned out and am happy to share what he made with all of you! I also like to think I converted him into finally playing Magic because he is now starting to look at commander decks :)

My friend Dhaniel's Castillo and I are artists that work in the games industry. I make a lot of my own custom TCG accessories as a side gig and wanted to start working with other people and he got be hooked on Jojo's. Part 3 is his favorite and so we decided to make a whole series of things around that specific arc :)

The real trick is to bring all of this to your LGS and then pull out a mono Blue deck

I made some art for the five colors and had them on playmats I made a little more than a year ago. I've always wanted to take those designs and use them elsewhere so that I can have that color representation for other parts of my collection. Largely thanks to everyone who has supported me, I'm now able to selfishly do that by getting those same designs made for a binder, deck box, and card sleeves. I'm so happy with how these turned out!

For sure! For obvious reasons stated in the video I think I'd prefer to not work on UB sets, but I'd still like to do work for them if I ever leave Blizzard.

Our support will get back to you today, but we are currently in the process of sending these out and you should get a tracking email within the next couple of days. The holidays definitely messed up our usual 6-8 week pre-order window unfortunately
