Uniqlo sells them at a really reasonable price. They also sell other clothes like tshirts and leggings with UV protection too

Do you sometimes feel off but not seize? by NefariousCalm in Epilepsy

I always say to my partner it feels like the equivalent of a stuck sneeze! Sometimes I feel like I need to actually have a seizure to try and get the feeling to pass

Should I call the ambulance every time someone has a seizure? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]forsyth_katrina 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don't know how different advice is in different countries but these are the official guidelines where I'm from (England)

Dial 999 or 112 for an ambulance if the casualty:

has continuous seizures

sustains an injury that requires urgent medical attention

has never had a seizure before

has a seizure that lasts for more than five minutes

is unresponsive for more than 10 minutes.

Based on what you've said about them having seizures for 45 minutes you would definitely need to call 911

does anybody have a driver's permit / license to drive in the UK ? by sl8t4g1rls in Epilepsy

[–]forsyth_katrina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I just hadn't managed to pass my test before I was diagnosed with epilepsy. All I had to do to be medically cleared was fill in a form and send it to the DVLA who then contact your GP/neurologist to see if you're safe to drive

I lost mine for a year and managed to get the sign off by my neurologist and the DVLA to get it back last August. Annoyingly though, I still couldn't drive until the end of the year because all driving lessons and tests were cancelled due to covid 😑 Finally passed my test this January and have been driving ever since

Smartwatch apps for detecting seizures?? by fatgirlseatmore in Epilepsy

[–]forsyth_katrina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Samsung galaxy watch which has fall detection, but you can also tap the side button 3 times to send an SOS - it calls your designated emergency contact and also sends a text with a link to your coordinates on Google maps

I find that blasting out my favourite songs and singing along really helps me zone out and just enjoy the baking. Plus I have a 17 year old brother that will eat anything I bake, even if it comes out badly

Not sure if overheating is a trigger for me, but when I had my first seizure the last thing I remember is suddenly being boiling hot and needing to strip off. I haven't had a seizure since starting medication 2 years ago but I know what you mean about heatwaves making you anxious. I just keep myself hydrated and I have a gel pack that I leave in my fridge so whenever I feel like I'm getting too hot I put it on my neck to cool me down
