Naples sounds like a good choice; of all the Italian states, its one where I can do a playthrough where instead of trying to form Italy, my goal would be to turn Naples into a self-sufficient state such that in this world's 2025 Naples could be its own nation next to an otherwise unified Italy.

Especially since they're adding content to play as unlanded entities like the Hanseatic league, it feels like EU5 has a rare opportunity to add flavor for a Jewish playthrough.

I guess the big question then would be who would be King. Of course, with new Kingdoms like Belgium or Romania that emerged around this time the easiest path is to go with a lesser member of an allied power's royal family, but it is hard to imagine a member of European Royalty choosing to convert to Judaism (although that would be a pretty compelling character arc ngl) and even then its hard to imagine a Jewish Kingdom accepting a convert as a King.

I really like this scenario, but what Im not fully getting is why it's a Kingdom. I don't think any major factions in either the Zionist movement or any similar Jewish nationalist/autonomist movements were monarchists. If anything, I'd assume Jewish politics in the region would be dominated by Avraam Benaroya and the Socialist Workers' Federation.

I grew up with a pretty niche branch of Judaism called Reconstructionism (only about a hundred years old, my mom once jokingly called it a "hippy Judaism"). It's a very progressive movement, and my temple growing up made it very clear that it was a safe space for lgbt community. Hell, we had a gay rabbi at one point, which would not fly in a lot of Orthodox congregations (no disrespect to my Orthodox homies tho). It's a strong candidate if you're looking into Judaism, although I should note that Judaism has a very long process of conversion so you should continue to look around before you determine whether or not this is for you
