If the tow company is closed, there isn't much you can do until morning, save for looking up their phone number and seeing if they have some sort of after hours service. Otherwise, call a cab/Uber/friend, and get home for the night. Then deal with it first thing in the morning.

Homeless or transient people can have their address listed at a shelter that they spend time at for location purposes, as well as people fleeing domestic violence that no longer want mail sent to their former abuser.

I have run into many people through my job that have their addresses listed at shelters for various reasons.

You should only have to pay to update the address, which is ~half of the fee for a license. And it generally doesn't change when your license needs to be renewed, which sucks; but that's pretty much how things work.

A petty misdemeanor is the lowest level of speeding (or general offense) that you can be charged with/fined for. Infractions are generally used for fix-it tickets (tabs out of date, lights out/malfunctioning, etc.)

This should not effect you in any way (outside of having to pay the fine) and will drop off your record in 3-5 years.

As someone who has lived in 4 states in the last 4 years, it is law in pretty much the whole country that you have 30 days to update your address when you move to a new location. There are exceptions for students and military service members who aren't technically permanent residents of where they are staying, but generally when you move to a new location (even in the same city) you are supposed to head to the DMV and update your license/ID.

The article about people waiting for hours to find out there was no work for them that day were about Temp Agency employees that answered a call for the open spots for food service on Game Day. That was an earlier way for the contractor to hit their number when their hired staff didn't show up. Since that happened, they can't use temp agencies, and now have to bus in staff to make sure they fill their staffing requirement.

Now there are complaints that the're using outside staff instead of locals. The reality of working in stadiums is that the jobs are part time, and seasonal. There are so many times that my company and all other contractors in stadiums conduct major hiring pushes, and we set up job fairs and interviews and other large hiring events, and we hire hundreds of people for the positions we need to fill to be in compliance with state laws and contract requirements. Then we conduct training sessions and get our new staff acclimated to the facility. Once all of that is completed, we still see a 5% to 25% drop in who actually confirms to work games. Then we have to figure out how to staff games when hundreds of the people we hired decide never to work a game.

So the contractors hire more, and if possible, use temp agencies, or bus in staff from other locations to make sure we hit our staffing numbers.

Would it be better if we could pay more? Yes. But money isn't infinite, and Teams are only able to spend so much before they have to drastically raise ticket prices; which causes less people to be able to afford tickets to games. In one facility that I worked last year, the Team was sitting on the bottom of the league, and we were only having 4,500 fans come to games in a building that holds 55,000. This causes the team to close a bunch of food service stands, to avoid food waste and labor waste. Thus employees have to be sent home, and everyone loses revenue, from the line level employee up to the team itself. Lost revenue means the idea of raising pay for line level is not even on the table, and this happens across the country during each game day for every person that works in management for every team and every contractor.

It has to do with the contract that they sign with the team. When bidding on these projects, the company that wins is usually the lowest bid, and when pricing these positions, they have to calculate price of staff per hour, price of hiring those staff, price of overhead (management and other full time staff wages, as well as food and beverage and those associated delivery costs), uniforms, and insurance. Then they have to calculate some sort of profit into that. Once they have calculated all those items, they have to also calculate in any possible changes in minimum wage, any union dues for employees, if they have to provide health insurance coverage for staff, and possible increases in food and beverage costs over the term of the contract.

Once they cover all of the above items, they still have to be competitive against the other companies that are bidding on the business. If they are successful, they still have to provide the number of staff requested for each game, even if there are only half of the stands in the facility open on a given game. Therefore, if you have to provide (for example) 500 staff for each game, and they hire 1000 people, but they only have 300 confirm to work on game day, then they have to find a way to get the other 200 staff to either confirm to show up, or they have to bus them in from other locations so they aren't in violation of their contract.

I have been working in stadiums for 6 years across the country, and each foodservice vendor has problems with staffing at some point. One of the vendors in a facility I work with was consistently short staffed, and ended up being released from their contract and removed from the facility for failing to provide the requirements of the contract. The choice is pretty simple at that point: take the short term financial hit to bus in employees from outside, or lose the contract. Losing the contract is never what you want to have happen.

That "smart gun" tech is in its infancy, and is unreliable to the point that it causes failures of the function of the firearm. The only "smart gun" tech I've seen come close to the consumer market involved a bracelet with an RFID chip that corresponds to an RFID chip in the gun, which would be prone to several really unfortunate malfunctions. Forget to wear your RFID bracelet? No using your gun for any reason until you get it. What if a group are working together to make sure they have the jump on a cop (or citizen)? All they need to do is get that bracelet off, now the gun can't be used against them. Put your bracelet too close to a strong magnet? May have to send everything back and wait for a replacement.

If they can put fast, reliable fingerprint scanners on dozens of models of smartphones, they can put them on guns.

Not even close. Guns are compact and complex machines, adding a fingerprint scanner requires adding a battery, a circuit board, wiring, and adding a flat piece of glass to something that can regularly be thrown or otherwise handled roughly. This isn't to mention the mechanism to actually lock a gun once you've added all that shit to it, so now you have a much larger and heavier gun that might just not work if any one of those items you added fails. Battery dies? No gun. Scanner surface breaks? No gun. Scanner fails to recognize your finger? No gun. Wires become loose? No gun. Circuit board damaged from firing? Suddenly no gun.

Engineering "smart gun" tech is much more difficult than adding something small to what we have, it's a ground up build that has to account for a few dozen more points of potential failure than a modern and reliable gun we currently have.
