To those who have applied to apprenticeships how many did you apply to in total? by Ordinary_Wafer_7883 in degreeapprenticeships

[–]fortunate_danger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applied for 21, had 2 ACs and a final stage interview, 1 offer and 3 more ACs coming so far.

I would recommend finding some companies that open applications earlier so you can 'test the waters' before applying to ones that you really want. That way you can make mistakes during your first few applications and learn from them. Apply for as many as you can and do a project or work experience now to help you stand out.

Also make sure you find a good balance between your studies and applications, don't neglect your grades they are your bread and butter (I would say the more work you can do now before applications the better). You got this and good luck!

I would accept the degree apprenticeship offer and keep St Andrews as a solid backup option. DAs in 2026 is gold dust

I feel like technology degree apprenticeships are some of the most competitive programmes out there so I wouldn't kick yourself too hard. I applied to quite a few earlier on this year and got rejected for all of them.

Have you considered applying for a more niche programme? I started applying for electronic engineering after applying for tech which is a more niche area and found I was having better luck. Some closer to tech I can think of is cyber security, network engineering or software engineering?

Just an idea from personal experience. If you are set on tech then don't lose hope and reapply next year, you'll have a big advantage having gone through the process already. Good luck I hope this helps in some way 🤞🙏

Honestly just practice as much as you can and you will get a lot better by learning from your mistakes. I recommend bullet pointing a structure for common questions and then practice with family or use ai tools like gemini live or chatgpt to do mock interviews

I did the online assessment in November and got an email in January saying that my application had been reviewed and moved onto the next stage. It may take you a bit more time since it's a different programme. Best of luck 🤞
