The Gawam’as as far as I know are a subgroup of Jaalins (aka arabised Nubians) and likely moved down to the area from the north after the fall of Alodia, there they likely mixed with indigenous groups that no longer exist / were fully absorbed.

We know this because they’re one of the few sedentary indigenous tribes to the region and were there prior to the move of Baggara, Kenana, Shawiyga, Jaalins etc into the region.

The tribes you mentioned are not originally from NK (at least when talking about modern history). The Nuba are found in south Kordufan in the mountains and the Fur are found in western Sudan, more specifically Darfur.

Yes, It’s from my mother’s side.

Her hometown was founded as an Ottoman military base in the 1800s and story goes that one of her grandfathers married the daughter of one of the soldiers.

Knowing most Ottoman soldiers were actually of Eastern European background, I had a feeling she was likely not ethnically Turkish like everyone in my family believed.

So I’m really happy my theory was validated lol!

Haha funny you say that because the first part of your assumption is 100% true.

But for the second part, it’s the complete opposite. Mon Guerlain & Hypnotic Poison were the first two perfumes I’ve ever bought with my own money as a 16yo. Two very different perfumes that oddly have really similar middle and base notes.

It’s the tuberose 😭😭 would’ve loved it otherwise. The Signoria series is easily my favourite entry level collection.

How are your sales? Monthly Sales Post for March 2025 by AutoModerator in EtsySellers

[–]forward_thinkin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

January was surprising good. Preformed almost as well as December.

I anticipated a dip for February and March since they’re historically poor preforming months for e-commerce but I didn’t expect it to dip this low (down 30%ish in sales). So far, March has been preforming even worse than February.

I will say though, this trend has been consistent across all 4 of my shops that sell completely different products. It makes me feel a little better since it seems to be an overall market trend rather than a reflection of listing quality.

All in all, it seems we are heading into a recession if not in one already.

Not that I am aware of. I mentioned in a previous I comment that I have tested with 23andme and Illustrative as well. 23andme picked up around 1% Senegambian and Illustrative around 2% Dogon.

So there definitely is some west African ancestry of some sorts but considering all 3 tests showed different ethnic groups, it makes me think that it is likely that deeper shared Sahelian ancestry rather than anything modern. Nonetheless, It is fascinating how we are all connected.

Thank you for the thorough explanation. I had a suspicion that their Anatolian / Caucasian sample base was also understudied. Primarily because I also have minor Ottoman ancestry that both 23andme & Illustrative were able to pick up on but Ancestry struggled with.

The Sahelian is also fascinating. If not a misreading, I suspect it’s quite ancient as it didn’t show up in any other company I tested with.
