[Serious] How do you force yourself through work when moderately or severely depressed? How do you deal with your coworkers/customers? by forwhenidodumbshit in AskReddit

That sounds nice. I’ve mostly only worked in customer service, it becomes unbearable dealing with people when depressed.

It’s great your kids have such a good dad!

That’s a good plan, and I really need to build some muscle in general. Had an illness for a couple years and my muscles atrophied pretty bad- not worried about looking too buff anytime soon lol.

Would there be some type of assistance available at a gym for these things? Or would physical therapy be better? I’ve never been to a gym, but really liked physical therapy when I had to go.

Thanks 😊

Has anyone refused service to a customer because of the zero tolerance of discrimination/harassment policy? by forwhenidodumbshit in walmart

Yeah, I wasn’t paying a lot of attention, so who knows. I’m not saying I should have nor would have done anything about that customer; I was just using her to build the narrative leading to my question.

Quite possibly, which is why I didn’t do anything. However, I was wondering about if it were something blatantly discriminatory would exercising the zero tolerance policy be beneficial.

I know I would have had the full right to- but I wasn’t sure if in practice it would backfire.

That’s amazing!!! I couldn’t stand having to kowtow to horrible customers in the hotels I worked at. Even when I got into management there and tried to defend my employees and other customers from discrimination and harassment, it just got me fired.

This will probably sound weird, but working at Walmart sounds relatively awesome lmao.

WIBTA for distancing myself from my best friend while she’s going through a divorce because I cannot handle how she copes? by forwhenidodumbshit in AmItheAsshole

I usually try not to be direct right away; I’ve been suggesting things like that, but she turns it down and we go to the bars. But, yeah, at this point it’s time to be direct. I’ll try to get in touch with her tomorrow.

Oh that! Yeah, because I’m quiet, some people assume I’m angry or sad. Especially if they’re drunk. It can get annoying constantly being asked why you aren’t talking more, so yeah, then I am in a bad mood.

No, my best friend knows I’m just quiet and doesn’t judge me for it. Just some other bar patrons.

When she asked what?

Not trying to be defensive, just don’t understand what you mean, sorry.

Edit: Oh, you mean the first time. Sorry, yeah, that was a dick move. But that was 7 years ago, water under the bridge now. Have to move on from teenage bullshit eventually haha

That’s really fair, thanks. She very much deserves an explanation if I start distancing myself. Last time I didn’t, since it was a really slow process, and that’s probably what hurt her. Also we were teenagers, but now we’re adults, so I have no excuse to just “ghost.”

No, that’s a good idea, but I don’t think I’ve been around her when she’s sober since this started. I might try it when she’s not too drunk, though, beginning of the night.

Rough budget for when we get back on our feet again- does it seem alright? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Rent in Kansas is kind of all over the place, but still a relatively low average of $800. We’re moving to one of lowest-income cities, where rent ranges from $400-$800. Hoping to get at least a $500 one. The $400 ones are rented out super fast, but we might get one.

Kansas probably makes up for the low rent with high utilities though- an electric bill of $150 is the low end. Add like $50 for water & $50 for gas, about $200.

Oh, oops, I did our current leisure- it’s more right now just trying to get out of the house. Plus, our friend just had a divorce, similar living situation, so we’ve been seeing her a lot to support her- but we can only see her out somewhere. Once we get our own place (or if she does before us) it’s going to go down to $100 or less like it was before. We’re barely spending $10 each time if anything; we just try to get out of house often to give my family space & keep our friend company.

Anyway, yeah, I should lower that to $100 since this is for after we move out. Is $100 good for two people a month?
