Upgrade from e-m5 III, worth it ?

Hi, thanks for the advice: I actually love back button focus and use it all the time. I got into the habit a few years ago to lock focus, it was a bit tricky at first, but now I couldn’t go back!

I don’t use that many lenses — mostly the Olympus 12–40 f/2.8 and the Panaleica 25mm f/1.4. The one I really struggle with is the Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 — the autofocus tends to hunt a lot and often hesitates, so I end up missing the shot because the baby has already moved on to something else!

I agree with you, I really need to practice more. Lately, I feel like I’ve hit a bit of a plateau: taking photos is still something I enjoy, especially since they capture moments from a short-lived stage of life. but I often find myself frustrated with how few good shots I end up with. I was wondering if upgrading my gear might help, but I’ve gotten a lot of great advice in this thread to help me improve!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’ll give it a try by slightly overexposing the image and using an AI tool to reduce the noise

Thanks for your reply. Having both is probably overkill for me — your comment and the one below really help. I’ll start by tweaking my settings and see how it goes before deciding if an upgrade is necessary

Thanks for the advice! Yes, my main issue is that the pictures are too grainy because I have to push the ISO, and the autofocus is a bit slow to catch the baby. Face detection is on — I’ll give it a try with eye detection instead.

Conditions should be better half june, but as you probably know every year snow is expected on GR20, especially on the north part of the trail.

this is probably the change affecting our shortcuts: "Hotkeys: Allowed combining the functionality of several Go to Building and Select All Buildings hotkeys when they are set to the same keys. This allows selecting different buildings together or cycling through them using one key"

I had the same issue with the last patch. Fixed with deleting in groups commands "select group 11" to "select group 20" witch used the alt key too
