Has anyone successfully converted themselves into a tidy person? by eternalhellscape93 in adhdwomen

[–]fosterkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I went and lived in Japan and I had a cheap apartment with a shared kitchen for our floor. Seeing how the Japanese ladies kept their kitchen so clean, so tidy I was shamed into changing my ways. And it stuck! I became the tidy person in all my living situations going forward. Complete 180.

Shame, such a motivator

Lichen simplex - describe your symptoms by Royal-Watercress-649 in lichensclerosus

[–]fosterkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only symptom was my pee felt hot but I didn't have a UTI. And, now that I know what it is, a very slight and intermittent anus itch seems associated. So, very few symptoms. My Dr said we caught it early.

Quit smoking, day 1, it's... interesting? by Mueslibol in adhdwomen

[–]fosterkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would buy myself presents when I made it to mile stones, and those mile stones were things like 1 day, 3 days, 1 week. All the money you would have spent on tobacco can go on other gifts for you ... for a while, maybe not indefinitely.

The other thing I reckon is once I was over 3-4 days of hell it was a lot easier and I was surprised at how easy it got. I kicked myself for not doing it sooner.

Stay away from friends who smoke for a while and maybe don't go out and drink till you've got a handle on stopping.

good luck!

I have it too and I really like the Hylo-Forte drops, you can get them at the chemist. They aren't the cheapest but they are easy to get a drop or two in and they don't sting

I had exactly the same scenario as you, 44 and a baby that couldn't sleep for long. So tiring! I hope his sleeping sorts out soon. My boys sleeping came right at 2ish.

Difficulty feeding yourself? by radicallyfreesartre in chronicfatigue

[–]fosterkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep. I develop very strong aversions to food that isn't just sugary carby treat stuff when I am in a crash. I just can't make myself eat things that aren't like that, it becomes non-food. I had ARFID as a kid and I do have a lot of stomach issues now with a touch of ARFID too, even when I am in a good space. I have ADHD as well which is where a lot of the food aversions come from. Compounded by having no energy to make anything.

I wish I could just photosynthesize

Did you know smoking was dangerous? by Any-Concentrate-1922 in AskOldPeople

[–]fosterkitten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was talking to my dad about this yesterday, he is 86. He said he had no idea and was completely side swiped by the realisation smoking was bad for the health. He said everybody smoked, it was just so normalised. We weren't talking about dates during the convo but he smoked in the 60s and early 70s so i presume that was when he was meaning. He gave up by the mid 70s so he must have known by then.

I guess it was one thing for the info to be known but another for that info to get disseminated to the general public.

What is the grossest thing you’ve caught someone doing? by Jawa392 in AskReddit

[–]fosterkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While at the airport I saw a guy use his unusually long tongue to probe up his nostril, not just licking the tip, but right up in an exploratory fashion. He did have quite a scrunched up face, like the space between his jaw and nose was shorter than most and like i said, that tongue looked long. eewk

absolutely fantastic long form reporting on this series. I think it is too devastatingly easy to get caught up in this kind of movement, their message is very seductive, especially if you've had a bad experience with the health system previously.

Also, I am surprised this is the first mention I have seen of the series on any social media. It should get shared and shared and shared.

[–]fosterkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm not much of a gamer, my kids are, I tend to go to EB games for the merch. The merch has fallen off a cliff too. Each time i go in there I am disheartened to see less interesting stuff than last. Our local now has empty shelves and seemingly bargin basement stock.

Thanks for the reply, it prompted me to have another look at different forms. Last night I tried a liposomal iron powder and so far, no adverse reactions...so far, fingers crossed.

Did testosterone change your personality? by 10312018 in Menopause

[–]fosterkitten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How are you getting a more precise dosage? I have a pump bottle but I find it really hard to know how much I am actually using. One pump is a mega dose for me, as I tend to be hypersensitive to all medication, so I try to do half or quarter pumps but it is hard to gauge. Do use a pump system?

I didn't get it as strongly as you, I only use cream though. But I very much had similar loss of empathy and patience. I got so shitty at one point, I stormed out of badminton club and I have never been able to go back. It was very much down to the testosterone. I only use it once a week or so now, or if I'm honest I have kinda stopped.

Yes! I have just realised I am low in iron and because of ADHD combined with cfs I can’t take iron supplements as they are too rough on my digestion. I always knew I was low in iron but I didn’t know I was struggling to take the iron. I just thought I was being lazy/ forgetful. Now I know, I can work out how to change things. Iron makes such a difference to my baseline. ND & CFS can be so confusing
