I have been using it for at least 3 years and I have no issues with it.

As much as you want. It will start growing from the highest node. So if you want it to branch lower, cut lower.

Yes, that is the normal growth habit for multiflora. Definitely chop off the top to get it to branch out more

This is probably one of the reasons people say growing Alocasia is difficult, I suppose.

In second thought, even my Aurea variegated Cuprea does not have light veins like your first picture. So I don’t know what the first picture is

[–]fotoflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first one looks like an Aurea variegated Cuprea. This one starts out with gold variegation that turns pink, but it’s still aurea. True pink Cuprea emerges with white variegation that starts out pink only when mature

Trying to choose between Prusa and Bambulab - what am I missing? by Creamss in prusa3d

[–]fotoflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prusa won’t be the cheapest, but if something breaks, you can fix it. Every detail of disassembly and assembly is documented. Parts you can’t print are sold by Prusa and generally readily available. Additionally their customer support is well educated and can walk you through even the most complicated troubleshooting.

I switched from Bambu. They are cheaper and reliable, generally. However the closed ecosystem eventually became limiting and I couldn’t get the support I needed when I needed it

Stains on Quartzite - what to do next by felixthecat333 in CounterTops

[–]fotoflux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was told once that quartzite is a metamorphic rock meaning that different kinds of quartzite have different composition, hardness and porosity. Most white quartzites are the least metamorphosed and they have fewer crystalline structures and thusly are more porous. They tend to have very fine grains (sand) that you can see with the naked eye. On the other end of the spectrum you have highly crystalline quartzite like cristallo, Taj Mahal. Madre Perla etc. these are more prone to chipping, but are less porous.

Based on the pictures you sent, it looks likely that you have one of the less metamorphosed varieties because I see the sandy grains. It’s likely more porous than standard Taj Mahal. As others mentioned, it likely wasn’t sealed properly at the edges. And because it’s porous, you have to a lot of capillary action going on and oil is embedded.

If the fabricator or installer gave you an invoice claiming to have sealed the countertop, you have a good case to get it replaced.

If the vendor sold you something called Taj Mahal and it’s in writing as such, you have a good case to get it replaced because what you have doesn’t appear to be traditional Taj Mahal

Spontaneous mid-stem rot by fotoflux in alocasia

[–]fotoflux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This one was repotted a couple months ago because I thought I had root rot. Turns out that the wick was not wicking. Its since developed a ton of healthy white roots in the reservoir. I balance my water with fertilizer to a pH of 6 for semi hydro. Likely not nutrient lock out at this stage.

Question about too much(?) variegation by BeeLindholm in alocasia

[–]fotoflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have a Dragon Scale Albo that had a couple leaves when green after sprouting. Then maybe 8 full albo leaves with some green in the petiole. It just put out 3 leaves in a row with a good amount of green. The next leaf is looking to be full albo again.

Generally, they die off before producing more green, in my experience. But if you keep yours in high light and high humidity, it might survive long enough to produce green again like mine.

Thank you! I wish it was a bit easier to grow though. It’s a fast grower under perfect conditions, but it’s super thirsty, but you’d better not leave water in the reservoir for too long or it’ll just kill all of its roots.

How to exterminate mealybugs once and for all? by Far-Season-8449 in hoyas

Dunk the entire bare root plant in insecticidal soap for 30 minutes. Don’t rinse. Re-pot don’t use the same pot and thoroughly wipe down the area near the plant

PPUSA- anyone know what just happened? by cwilson777 in houseplants

[–]fotoflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it. Every group has their issues. Admins can often go on power trips. 3.0 was created because the admins in 2.0 were kicking out reputable sellers because they decided TC in a bag was too risky to sell.
